Move or copy a WordPress site to another server or to another domain name, move to/from local server hosting, and backup sites.
I used this plugin before and it worked, (once it didn't, when going from 1 hosting provider to another)
But now using it on a brand new site using WP 3.9.1 it failed on me.
I usually get 3-20 of these warnings
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/localbiz/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-clone-by-wp-academy/lib/functions.php on line 436
but these are normal and don't seem to affect anything.
But on WP 3.9.1 i get this warning:
Warning: filesize() [function.filesize]: stat failed for /home/localbiz/public_html/wp-content/uploads/wp-clone/wpclone_backup_17th_May_2014_09-30PM_Loc_LK2RA3usFd.zip in /home/localbiz/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-clone-by-wp-academy/lib/functions.php on line 166
I'm pretty sure this error message pops up because the backup was not successful even though it says it was.
For the file size it doesn't show anything, if i click on it i get a page not found error.
If i right click and hit Save As it downloads a 9.5KB sized file.
Trying to restore this to a different domain (same hosting company) i get a "Not Found" error.
Double clicking on the saved file also results in "Error in packed file"
I just tried opening an older backup of a site running older WP, that backup is ~18.5MB and i can access it. (open it/unpack it)
This older site has all of the plugins and more that i used on this new site, except WP 3.9.1, i think it was using WP 3.8.3
I will change my rating once it starts working again.
I was trying to use this plugin to make a copy of a default half way set up instance of wordpress, since i have to do the same thing on 3 different domains.
On the first one it failed, this had every change made and plugins installed.
On the 2nd site, there was nothing set up/installed, except this plugin of course and on this the backup worked and i only got 1 of those errors.
After some trial and error i found out that the problem is being caused by Jetpack. Just simply installing it, without even activating it is breaking this plugin.
Now i don't necessarily need this plugin backed up for this simple site multiplication thing, but for a proper backup i really do, so i gave it 2 stars instead of just 1.
it took me less than 5 min to clone basic site from one domain to a test domain. great plugin, good tutorial, another reason why i love WP
This plugin really does what it promises. It works perfectly. I encounter some issues but it was very simple to fix. It is great! All the plugins with their settings, the appearance, posts, pages, comments, pictures, everything has been fully and effectively cloned.
Thanks for this plugin!
No need to worry.
very easy to move site form one domain to another domain.
Very fast , very smooth..
Thanks for this plugin.
With minimal effort I duplicated my site onto a new domain. I definitely recommend this plugin.
Great work guys!
Having spent the last two days trying to clone a website for development purposes using a different plugin, I came across this one and within 10 minutes had the site cloned and working. Thank you!
It would have saved me so many annoyances and so much time, THIS is how it should be -- make a copy of your live site (effortlessly!), reconfigure to your heart's content, transfer it back -- effortlessly!
Now, it doesn't work on all servers -- but even though that's a fairly serious flaw, I'm still giving it five stars because of how brilliantly easy it makes things when it *does* work. What this plugin does, is fix the truly terrible native import/export functionality provided with WP.
The only thing that would make it more awesome would be if you could select whether to copy the content or not, so it would be easier to restore from a dev site to a live site without overwriting any changes in the interim.
But I'm not complaining! This plugin lets me move WP sites by clicking my mouse a few times. That in itself is amazing.
Definitely use this plugin if you need to move or copy your WP site to another domain or URL. It said may take a few minutes, but it only took a few seconds! Incredibly easy and cloned it exactly bit by bit. Recommend 100%!
this is perfect!
all of my websites are cloned and transferred with in my new hosting and it works perfectly and smooth.
(unlike the other duplicator/cloner/backuper or whatever they called their product, they're hard to use and always broken.)
thanks gazillions who created this amazing plugin pretty easy to use :D
i loveS it dude!
In April 2014, I used this plugin to migrate a site from a production to locally hosted server, and had reasonable success. At the time, I gave the plugin 4 stars. Recent experience using the plugin to move a locally hosted site to a production server was a long, frustrating, time-consuming experience. Copying & pasting the url in the plugin on the production side continually threw an error message 'Incompatible archive'. Since this type of error has been around a while, it surprises me the plugin authors haven't seen fit to address it properly. When I was able to restore my site on the production server, much of the site's written content was missing. I had to upload my db backup from my localhost and overwrite the production server db tables to get the rest of the content up and running. My difficulties may be confined to my hosting service (GoDaddy). I will try using the WPC again with a different hosting service, and see if I get a better result. At this time, I'm open to trying a different plugin to help move site files and databases.
