Improve your WordPress SEO: Write better content and have a fully optimized WordPress site using Yoast's WordPress SEO plugin.
its really helpful
The updates for this plugin need to be grouped into more concise, less frequent releases. I am all for updates and bug fixes but this plugin updates itself too often, which tells me that Joost releases a lot of errors and doesn't test his software out as thoroughly as possible
If you DON'T have a plugin update notifier, you may miss out on an important fix. If you DO have a plugin update notifier, you get notified on an all too frequent basis (often once or twice a week it seems). That is a bit too annoying for me, to have to constantly update a plugin, and I am not interested in committing myself to updating a plugin almost every other day.
I initially had this plugin rated 5 stars. After 5 years working on WordPress and understanding it's full nature. I've downgraded the rating. The why will come later.
What I will say is that 5 years ago this was a 5 star plugin for the sites I owned and it is still a great plugin especially for those new to WordPress.
It's just not my 5 start SEO plugin anymore.
WooCommerce 2.0.8 & WP 5.3.1
Works overall, but in Admin/Products/Products messes up the frames and condenses data, which is not usable. In order to use this section I have to disable the plugin, and when I am finished, enable again.
According to me this plugin is a really good one but it is not globalization-oriented: You cannot give different titles, descriptions or messages for Facebook and Google+ to each page or article according to the speech
I've been using Yoast now for 5+ years and while I love it most times its been a drag of late. It can be helpful and easy to use and there are regular updates which provide me with the some security that the plugin authors are looking out for our needs., however I've been a bit disappointed of late that the keyword density statistic doesn't work with php versions 3.5 and there doesn't appear to be any response to this issue as of yet.
I run this plugin on 5 websites, all running Genesis as promoted by Joost. More than 90% of all problems that required more than a few minutes to resolve were caused by this plugin. In most instances it required disabling the plugin for extended periods while reports detailing the problem kept on piling up in the support forum . These seem to mostly go unanswered and unresolved.
On the first page of the support forum there are 29 problems reported. With the exception of 2, all during the past 2 days. ONE report is marked as resolved. On the Plugin page it is reported that only "38 of 581 support threads in the last two months have been resolved".
As another reviewer put it : "Searching the support forum and Google finds numerous posts/pleas for help on these topics, all with the author conspicuously absent and the poster's issue apparently unresolved after months".
This accurately reflects my experience with this plugin, it breaks often and there is little support and/or feedback when it does.
I used it in the past but not now.
#1 sitemap is to big
#2 administration is not user friendly (the self promoting stuff is to much an I think it shoul be more discrete)
#3 ă, ș, ț in meta description are replaced with ?
As a conclusion
The plugin has some SEO functionality but is full of ads, is hard to use and still has a lot of bugs.
I'm just reducing my rating for WordPress SEO by Yoast to 3 until it stops its annoying behaviour of showing me 3 different messages each time I perform an upgrade.
True, it has become the standard for SEO plugins, but it's technical and covers a lot with very little explanation. You can really mess things up if you don't know what you're doing. I haven't found there to be too much support, either, so this is for professional SEOs.
