Wordfence Security is a free enterprise class security plugin that includes a firewall, virus scanning, real-time traffic with geolocation and more.
I uses Wordfence for all my WordPress sites to increase security!
Wordfence Security is installed on my client sites and works very well. Scans run well and have identified issues in the past. Very glad I found this one!
I came home from lunch today to find an email: "Password Lost and Changed for user: admin" Not only that, but the home page was gone, and only displayed an error message.
Lucky for me, I googled and got instructions to log into the web server, then MyPhpAdmin to remove the attacker's email address, reset the admin password and suspend the site in case it was spewing malicious code. It was 5 minutes of sheer terror I don't ever want to experience again.
Even luckier for me, the google results led me to this plugin. The walkthrough after installation is amazing. No other plugin I have ever used makes it so easy to learn about the features. I bought four licenses, one for each of my businesses.
*Two factor authentication login is now in place for them all.*
It will take ages for the web site hosting place to sort out my site, but I took this wake-up call so that it will be the first and last time my site is breached. In fact, I will suggest they use Wordfence to help audit the site to see if really bad things happened to it.
Just great and powerful!
thanks for this great plugin
Used this plugin to finally get rid of malware from my site. No other plugin did what this one did.
I don't set a site up without WordFence. Period.
Excellent plugin for securing your WordPress site.
I run several sites and have seen a difference. Word Fence has definitely protected my sites.
Simply, reliably and safe!
It`s a "Must have plugin" !
The feature I particularly like is the IP Block which I use after many unwanted login attempts. I like that they tell me where the IP addresses are from also. People assume other countries than the ones that appear to be the major culprits. I use it with a variety of plugins on different sites with different themes and no problems on any of them.
Since this is not a support question, I'm adding this comment:
I had a security alert, which told me to delete two files that were possible security issues. One, gdform.php, I could only find in a search as a GoDaddy file, though I don't use GoDaddy. The other I could find no reference to anywhere on the web: odelia_wyn.php When I deleted them, I had no problem with my website. It's working fine. In case others find those files, I hope they find this post and are not afraid to delete them.
