Easy Web Performance Optimization (WPO) using caching: browser, page, object, database, minify and content delivery network support.
This plugin totally messed up our site, things went missing eg pics, the site actually loaded slower and it actually stopped anyone from adding a listing or photos to the site.
It also messed with the FTP with us not actually being able to back up the site so we had to rely on our webhost to restore the site!
We had been using this plugin for a few years.
After the latest update, it broke our site layout on the sites we updated on. When we deactivated it, it wiped out our site entirely. We had to reinstall from a backup and I had to pay our programmer 3 hrs work to remove it manually and fix our database from where w3 cache had corrupted it. In all this plugin has cost me about $200.
This almost cost us two big clients as well. We have since removed the plugin from ALL of our sites. Lesson learned I guess.
Just sharing our bad experience to help others. This is all factual so it is what it is.
This is such a complicated plugin. I'm sure there are many things I need to do to get it up and running but all it does is throw annoying error messages at me in Dashboard. More to the point, it doesn't work. I've tried this on two websites and both times it breaks my CSS. It tells me my queue needs deleting, so I delete it and nothing happens. I see the support for this is pretty poor too so I'm going back to QuickCache and WP SuperCache (I'm experimenting by running each one on different websites). At least QuickCache has nice, easy-to-follow explanations that I can understand, and it just works out-the-box.
Maybe if I was running a professional website I'd spend some hours getting my head around it, but that's not what I want from my plugins. If my page takes a few milliseconds longer to load, who cares?
I fought with this plugin for almost two months. After many attempts I could not get any satisfying result and indeed my site has become very slow.
However I have not given a low rating for the performance of the plugin, but because no one answers my support request sent ONE MONTH AGO. Indeed, it seems that someone has fun delete my messages aimed to update the situation.
In conclusion, I do not like the "atmosphere" that envelops this plugin.
This plugin is not only overly bloated (7.13 MB) but doesn't work as well as some of the other less bloated cache plugins like Quick Cache.
VERY IMPORTANT- Do not try uninstalling this plugin as it will cause an error on your wp admin panel and you wont be able to log back in without re-uploading the plugin and renaming a number of files. Simple put....a pain in the A$$. This plugin really doesn't deserve to be located in the wordpress.org plugin page.
After 3 days working on little change I completely disappointed.
You can't even remove credit comments in your source code without manually editing files.
Worked fine but after a week I kept having to run maintenance on my SQL database. Uninstalled the plugin, and everything works fine now.
This Plugin has killed all my Avatar Pics and deleted all Group Admins!
Before W3-total cache
Load Time: 7.50 s
W3-total cache Installed
Load Time: 14.52 s
First i thought i've configurated it wrong. So followed all steps for best performance. Worst loading with w3 is 23.73 s
If W3-total cache can proof me wrong, please do contact me W3-total cache otherwise i am very disappointed.
I've uninstalled this plugin because without it my website perform the best.
The installation process for W3 Total Cache broke my site, specifically by putting unparseable config into my site's top level .htaccess.
Possibly the worst first impression imaginable, really.
