Easy Web Performance Optimization (WPO) using caching: browser, page, object, database, minify and content delivery network support.
I'd love to give a great review, but to be honest, I'm not really sure if it's better or worse than I had before.
It's complex to set up without a lot of explanation.
I guess if you're a total geek, you'll get it, but I just left things on default settings and hope for the best.
I do know that it had some issues with a couple of other plugins and a theme I was using.
Still doesn't play nicely with Jetpack.
The plugin, combined with other methods of increasing page speed, does help. It takes a bit of time to configure and it's best to follow a guide if you don't know what you're doing (I followed: http://www.inspire2rise.com/w3-total-cache-settings.html)
I'd give it a better score, but after 30 days, you get a message that won't go away on any of the plugin pages asking to rate, tweet, link, and/or subscribe. It's a pathetic way to get attention.
I hope leaving this review makes that message go away.
It didn't go away. This is really, really annoying. I'm trying to alter settings and I have to click out of a popup every time I load a page.
First, to express my admiration to developers of this plugin. There is lot of hard work built in it. Realy, realy lot work. All the best to you, guys.
I have been using this plugin (free version) more than a year on 5 websites, went through a lot of tutorials and learned all little tricks about it, and must say it is realy thorough plugin. It served me good, but...
Last few months, it started becoming buggy, and with this plugin, who has zillion options, its not good thing to happend. Finding what is wrong, means lot of debugging and searching. So, one day I finaly lost my nerves and started exploring other similar plugins. Caching and speed was my priority and I started on lighter plugins with only that.
Was I suprised!
I tested two most popular, and after few days found out that W3 Total Cache is pretty much slower then both of them!
They didnt have those zillion options (that I dont need) but where lot faster. After few days I changed W3 Total Cache on all websites and saw really speed change, and ravenue.
CONCLUSION: W3 Total Cache is actually ten plugins in one, and it means it is heavy. It is supposed to speed up your website, but its size realy make in its way. If you need all of those options install the plugin and enjoy, but if you need it just for speed... Try a few more plugins.
This plugin is great, but recently the nag screen has been driving me crazy! Every time I click on something, it comes up. Does anyone know how to disable it?
I'm only giving it 3 stars because of the nag dialog is causing usability issues.
Seems to help a bit, but minify messes up all my sites, and the new automatic popup reminder will not go away. I have to X out of it every page I launch. I'd give it a 4 or 5 but the popup has become obtrusive and I can only use 75% of the features without breaking my sites.
Of course YMMV, and it does seem to help optimize some things behind the scenes. Others may have better luck than I've had getting the maximum benefit of this plugin.
I can't honestly tell you how many times W3TC has bricked WP upgrades and backups, but it is enough that I do not advocate this plugin anymore. Make this plugin fully delete when you remove it, do not leave large portions on the file server to prevent backups either via Duplicator or BackupBuddy.
don't enjoy the spammy pop-up screen -2 stars.
Helpful for page speed. Just a few to many options making finding what you need difficult.
