TheatreCMS, The Performing Arts Plugin, lite version. Manage your organization's events and production history.
Since this page is for the lite version, the review is for the lite version and not the full version.
Long story short: don't bother downloading the lite version. I've tried a few of the shortcodes and none of them work because they're not supposed to work in the lite version as evidenced in the response to this support question the event calendar as well as some other shortcodes are available only in the full version.
All you can do with the lite version is create events and productions on the dashboard to see how to set things up behind the scenes, but not see how it'll look on your site (i.e. whatever you see on the screenshots is the most you can do).
It'd be great if the developer would set up a test account for people to try things out on his plugin site since the lite version isn't really useful in helping us decide if we want to spend the $195 to purchase the full version.
I've been trying to get this to work for some time. It seems to me the Lite version is a poor imitation of the very expensive full version. Very limited shortcodes available in the Lite version and they produce very erratic results. Productions will not display in any chronological order on the Season Page. You would think this would be a priority. The author admits he's had "a couple problems with the date saving in the incorrect format in some installations."
Very poor support.
I'm going to delete it.
The TheatreCMS system has made developing and managing our Round House Theatre web site much faster and easier. We continue to receive great feedback from our patrons on the functionality and look of the calendar in particular. We were fortunate to be an early adopter of TheatreCMS and went from a completely custom, expensive site, to one based on open standards that's easy (and more affordable) to maintain and update.
We have been using this plugin for almost a year now. It greatly reduced the time it took to develop our theatre's new WordPress-driven website. We are a $4.5M organization, over 60% of which comes from ticket sales, so it was very important to us to find an improved online event calendar system with the ability to deep link to events in our ticketing system. We have found the system so easy to use, from the creation of webpages for our productions, to adding individual events to the calendar. We highly recommend this plugin for any performing arts or event-driven organization.
Feel free to check out our site, driven by this plugin. I'm happy to answer questions about how we use it.
