The Events Calendar is a carefully crafted, extensible plugin that lets you easily share your events. Beautiful. Solid. Awesome.
I have been looking for several months for a plugin that does the following:
- Designed for training companies
- Has custom fields that can be linked to courses/events
- MUST integrate with WooCommerce.
I will start with my third requirement. We are using WooCommerce with several payment gateways, therefore, any Calendar/event plugin MUST integrate with WooCommerce. There are other good Calendar plugins out there but they run their own payment gateways/shopping carts, which is a problem. Many of them has only PayPal standard and not Pro, this is where this plugin shines. However, I must say that Modern Tribe has to enhance its integration further with WooCommerce, nonetheless, it currently does the basics and is sufficient.
Custom codes is crucial. Above and beyond (venue, organizer...etc), WE needed to add (instructor, type of course, delivery method...etc), and this wouldn't be achieved without custom codes in The Event Calendar PRO version.
Though the plugin is designed for events, but with few core template changes, you can change everything to rename it for (courses).
I must also say that Modern Tribe support is great. They usually respond within 24 hours.
We have purchased the PRO version + WooCommerce + Filter bar, which easily added up to $195 which is really expensive. The filter bar must be part of the PRO version as well as WooCommerce integration. This is why it got 4 starts out of 5.
hi..plugin is awesome, it would be a great if we also register for events through this plugin.
I love this plugin because it comes with a WooCommerce extension to sell tickets, and there are not many events plugins that integrate with WooCommerce any the many payment gateways that WC offers.
This plugin does a pretty good job at event management and i like the attendee check in feature, some of the other paid add-ons look good too.
The downside to The Events Calendar free and Pro is that it doesnt have good support for recurring events, The Events Calendar does do recurring events, but when you integrate The Events Calendar with WooTickets, its pretty useless. I need to sell tickets, to events, and this group of plugins just makes it harder if thats what ur trying to do. for me its easier to just make a woo commerce product and label it with the event name time and date and then list it on a page in sequential order. which basically makes events calendar and wootickets redundent.
I am going to hold on to my licenses though, if i get the updated version that supports recurring events in woocommerce before my license runs out then i will probably renew my license next year and stick with these guys otherwise im gonna have to look for a new solution soon. Plus i just like the Tribe guys, they have a nice style, and their support is consistent which is good.
After using other calendars, visually more attractive, with more options, but that did not work properly, I decided to try this plugin that does what you expect of him. That is fundamental.
Maybe I'd like that we could apply different colors to events categories, I would really appreciate it.
I am not a big WordPress expert, but together with a friend of mine we did great things with a WP-based site, so I chose WP for my latest idea.
One of the key features of my new site will be a multi-country events' calendar. Oh, the horrors, oh the pitfalls. I never knew so many pitfalls existed :(
Eventually we settled with the Events Calendar Pro. It is not perfect, but the support team was very friendly and eventually we tweaked the plugin together to fit our purposes (more or less).
In overall, our experience is positive so far, so I recommend this plugin, but some more development is needed
Yes, this plugin works great out of the box is amongst the best out there. Functionally it works great for the most part. However, it has a few shortcomings if you're a developer.
There are some core issues about the way it's been coded which, contrary to the plugin authors statement "built in the wordpress way", is not built in the wordpress way. Well, not to a certain extent.
A revisit to properly understand how custom taxonomies and post types work together as well as the wordpress templating system, would greatly benefit all involved. Theme integration and some basic functionality (eg breadcrumbs, built-in wordpress menu classes) would certainly be improved instead of hacky-hack-hacks needing to be implemented to make things work.
So to go from a good plugin to a great plugin, these things need to be addressed.
Plugin is good but its collides with themes & other plugins.
A very good event plugin
Really this is a cool staff but I was seeking for a shortcode to display the events calender in my custom page.
I saw a page template already created where the events is displaying, I couldn't even locate the template file to customize -_-
Anyway A shortcode can make this plugin Awesome :)
Got 404 errors when opening single event pages on The events calendar 3.3.1(wp 3.8, multisite). Rolling back to version 3.2 of the plugin works as a temporary fix.
