Build responsive page layouts using the widgets you know and love using this simple drag and drop page builder.
Just I wish there was more customizations available
I just installed this on a 'build' site which is running an Artisteer developed Theme using Templateer. I activated the plugin with trepidation but found it all to work fine. This is so much easier than using Templateer's shortcodes for rows and spans and I feel it is something I can teach to my more savvy CMS clients.
If I have a question it how this concept will merge with the inevitable demand for Mobile First approaches. Building a site from widgets is novel and remarkably productive, especially as I am already a fan of Black Studio TinyMCE Widget, the principle building block IMO. I may come back with a five star rating when I have build something complex that stands the test of time.
I'm giving them a 4 rating only because I think that eventually PageBuilder will be a great plug-in for WordPress. It does have it's bugs and issues right now though. For example, Posts with Thumbnail images don't work unless you literally delete code in their content-single.php file. But this could be a really good plug-in if they can get it working.
Now on to their support. That is truly horrible. There really isn't any support. Even in the forums you'll see people will have asked questions days or weeks ago with no response. I purchased the premium version of Vantage and had problems and finally got a response using e-mail. I think this company is probably just a couple of guys good at coding with a designer's eye and they probably work full-time jobs which means they're not available for support. That's why I'm giving them the 4 instead of a 1. I think the solution may be that they have us pay for pageBuilder at rate that will allow them to be available 24/7 for support. If they get this plug-in fixed and combine it with fully customizable themes -- the Vantage Theme is actually pretty customizable -- I'd be willing to pay them $100 a month in membership just to use their pageBuilder and Themes. But, I want 24/7 support available before I'd commit to that. Others -- please put in your input and maybe these guys can set a future date where we can all sign up for a "fee" and then they can live with 24/7 support on that date and spend their time developing their themes and PageBuilder. Just saying (as they say).
Revised for version 1.4.5 /1.4.6
The latest versions give key improvements to this page layout script. Starting with version 1.4.5, the update process has been optimized to only update those modules which have changed on the page since the last edit. This significantly improves page editing and page saves.
I am on my way to give this plugin a 5-star rating when a few more other functions are included. The development and responses from the author are truly deserving of a 5-star rating.
The following is for version 1.4.2/1.4.2
Unfortunately Page Builder has become rather slow in the recent updates. The degradation of page saves speed is noticeable. Also there is not the ability to click on a "date" icon to add a date to an article using the text editor which is very important.
i'm just migrating to WordPress (from other professional CMS) and i need a visual / easy builder to let my editor build pages... and i think i'll settle with this Page Builder
right now i'm testing integration with the Pods Framework.. i guess i'll have to write some shortcode...
i'm not giving 5 stars only because i couldn't find full docs (especially API, and the commit log is quite empty https://github.com/wp-plugins/siteorigin-panels/commits/master )
PS: Greg: since this plugin is free.. why don't you develop it in GitHub?
Dropped down a rating on October 6, 2013 because of the number of post with no response.
Page Builder now on Talking Manuals
The combo of a great interface/drag-n-drop and the author responding in a timely manner from help request, this is definitely a product which has great promise and I am willing to publish a product review.
Currently I am re-rating this as a 4 star as the text editor, Black Studio TinyMCE is quite limiting.
There is no HTML source editor, horizontal line nor date among many other functions.
