This plugin demystifies what image sizes are currently active. It makes it easy to change them, or create new ones. I love it!

And, it has a great regenerate feature, so if you create new sizes (or change a size's dimensions), then it easily recreates them all.

With its simple and straightforward interface, Simple Image Sizes allows you to see at a glance, a theme's custom alternate image sizes used in its templates (typically specified in "functions.php") and easily alter them or create new alternate image sizes as needed.

Simple Image Sizes comes complete with a built-in thumbnail regenerator, ensuring that you won't get any broken images after altering or creating alternate image sizes.

This is a must-have plugin if you're tweaking an existing theme or trying out new ones.

theme authors put parameters inside the theme files for width and height of images in various places (slider, portfolio thumbnail, porfolio page, blog page.. some of them get cropped others don't. look its a pain in ass to explain. the plugin will add more options in settings > media to let you direct what gets chopped and what doesn't. it also will regenerate the thumbs for you as well. so kill two puppies with 1 stone.
