Doesn't actually search everything
This plugin is no longer supported by authors and has many bugs including deprecated functions not supported in wp 3.6
Stopped working, upgraded only to get a long message that it no longer works. You are given links to a paid alternative. The link is an affiliate link just to let you know. For that reason I give 1 star.
Search Everything Version: 6.9
Well, we tried...
It took a few years of kick-starting the Search Everything Plus project and it being subverted by new full-time projects at Sprout Venture before realizing it had to stop. Our goal of fixing WordPress search with SE+ needed too much focus, something we couldn't sacrifice because of growing client projects. After a year of trying and nothing awesome to show we decided to cease all planning and development on the Search Everything Plus plugin/service.
But our goal of fixing WordPress search isn't lost.
For the last few months we've tested out numerous search solutions for WordPress and we found one. Swiftype offers many of the features you requested for SE+ and their service was something we had only hoped to build. Instead of competing we decided to partner.
The Swiftype Search plugin replaces the standard WordPress search with a better, more relevant search engine, and in doing so offloads the performance burden of search queries from your database to ours. It also gives you detailed insight into what your users are searching for, so you know which keywords to target when customizing your search engine results. The base ranking algorithm is based on industry best-practices and provides more relevant results by default, but we also allow for any result set to be fully customized via our drag-and-drop interface for result reordering. To make customizations you simply create a Swiftype account and install our the Swiftype Search plugin. You can then login to our dashboard to customize results and read through detailed search analytics.

This plugin saved my bacon. You guys/gals are awesome. I'll be donating shortly.
I have been looking for a plugin like this for ages!
All I wanted was to search via a custom field reference number - took about 3 minutes to install, activate, modify options and test and works!
The highlighting option highlights words/phrases that are located throughout the entire site.. For example, if you search for "about" the navigation menu with "about" in it gets highlighted. Major problem...
What's worse is if you have something in the sidebar with the word "about" it will attempt to highlight that as well which is completely nonsensical for a user when searching. It then breaks the code by inserting html that alters the sidebar and you end up seeing the code as if it is copy.
this plugin looks promising, very useful plugin.
