Don't run it if you're using a non-English language, this plugin will spoil the encoding!
I ran this to delete the large number of post revisions on the site going back to 2009.
It ran in about 45 seconds and deleted 7,975 draft revisions and saved 100.807MB.
I prefer the admin interface of this plugin to the other database optimizing plugin I had, so I'm switching to this plugin instead.
It does what it needs to do and as a bonus provides nice data on how much it's removed over time. Not necessary but a cute touch.
What's not to like about a plugin that cut the size of my database by two-thirds with no ill effects? It's been a couple days now and the site works great. I do suggest making a complete backup before using, but in my case the bckup was unneeded.
There may be other db plugins that offer a little more fine tuning of what is done to the database, but they also require more time and attention because you need to do the work manually each time you use the plugin. With this one you set a few parameters, including how many post revisions to keep, setup a schedule and you are done.
Also, this plugin is very well supported.
Than you, Rolf, for the development, maintenance, and support of this very useful plugin.
Works like a charm, but would be a plus if send report to email :)
Hanged while in the middle of optimization. Did more harm than good
Clean 37Mb of garbage in my DB. )
Not much to add. Oh yes, one thing ! Do a backup of your database BEFORE. It went all good for me, but you never know :)
This is worth using to get rid of the mile-long list of revisions on the edit screens for my pages.
One suggestion: Fix the wording of the option "logging on". I thought it had to do with being logged on to something. Only later I figured out that it means, keep a log.
