This plugin limits user access to the dashboard based on whether users have a chosen capability. Disallowed users are redirected to a chosen URL.
Limited options but simple and effective.
Simple and effective...though you do need to understand what roles folks have if you want to deny anyone other than an admin...I used edit posts as I wanted to keep only subscribers out.
This is a god-send. With the plethora of people out there doing alterations to function.php documents etc., and a load of other unnecessary steps to jack up your site, here is a simple yet most effective solution to a very sought after issue. Thanks for a solid solution :)
Well-thought out, unlike a lot of code snippets floating around. Handles AJAX issues, for instance.
Bonus points for posting on Github (I forked for a multisite setup).
This plugin is just what I was looking for - the ability to STOP my users from accessing wp-admin unless it's me or the other admins of my site.
The ability to redirect users was also a requirement that has been fulfilled nicely.
What would make this even greater is if it could work with the "members" plugin where you can create your own roles and have those roles plugged in here as well.
elseif ( ! preg_match( '|^\S+://\S+\.\S+.+$|', $options['redirect_url'] ) )
That is far from sufficient as a URL regex. Consider, for example, the URL
http://localhost/~squelch which is perfectly valid. As a developer I need to test things before they go live.
It's a shame as this looks like it could be a good solution. If/when this gets fixed I'll be more than happy to revise my rating.
Thank you. simple and easy to install and use. does exactly as described.
Seriously. Why is this not part of WP?
Работает отлично. Было бы неплохо, если бы в настройках плагина была бы возможность назначать страницу, на которую будет осуществлено перенаправление..
We had built a front-end interface for users to manage their info, all we needed is a way to restrict direct-URL access to /wp-admin. This plugin takes care of it perfectly.
One nice thing to do would be putting the code to github so that people could contribute. I personally see myself forking it and adding code that creates an options page for choosing lowest capability type to block.
