Redirection is a WordPress plugin to manage 301 redirections and keep track of 404 errors without requiring knowledge of Apache .htaccess files.
I love this plugin, install it on all my websites, does wat it promises and more :) It also shows you 404's, urls that people use to come to your site, that are not there.
superb!! Easy!! Quick!! Convenient!!
I use Redirection on every wordpress site I make for a client.
It's my own URL shortener with awesome tracking, on my own domain. Super Simple too!
Its utility is unparalleled, I would be lost without Redirection making my life simpler.
Must have plugin.
This is the only working redirect plugin for me, i tested all other but only this works perfectly and simply.
I got loops instead of redirections...
Simple install, works as expected.
Very convenient feature that redirection is created automatically when slug of post is changed.
But adding redirect button for article on "404 log" does not work
I also find the article useful https://managewp.com/the-best-way-to-set-up-redirects-in-your-wordpress-blog
What happens when you uninstall it or plugin broke?
You will still have the old url ? or plugin fix the 404 pages and redirect it automatically to your server?
I like the plugin
I've tested over 10 plugins and this one working much better.
At the beginning i had a problem with Apache and the other stuff like .htaccess
It is a bit complicated to find how you can redirect anything you write after your old url/ to same destination in new url/
Finally that was very easy: Just select WordPress in Group
This is a particularly interesting plugin -- we use it to track "fake" landing page URLs and introduce redirects for slugs like /mytracker
That way we have a way to track specific links inbound and on site for particular campaigns. You can even use a redirect to a media file to see how often certain images load. The groups feature is also useful to aggregate trackers under 1 name.
Only 4 stars due to 1 issue: redirects to the mailto: url seem to strip out the @ sign creating a malformed new email header.
Otherwise really great - I hope it keeps getting maintained or just becomes part of core -- it's that important.
