A very nice way to incorporate PHP code into posts/pages, without the raw code appearing with the text and other non-technical stuff. "[php snippet=5]" is a lot less fragile than a big block of code, if a non-technical person is editing the site content.

Being able to add a shortcode to a widget is so much better than adding a bunch of code to a php widget that is easily deleted by another user.
