The Per Page Sidebars (PPS) plugin allows blog administrators to create a unique sidebar for each Page. No template editing is required.
I run a site for a large organization, with a child theme based on Thematic. I use the main menu for site-wide navigation. Then I use Per Page Sidebars to put department-specific custom menus in Primary Aside. Very handy in conjunction with plugins that let you limit who can edit which pages and menus, such as Role Scoper or Press Permit.
This was just what I was looking for. It lets me give each individual page (or post!) its customized sidebar. Thatnks for creating the plugin!
Would be great if author could in fact add proper custom post type support!
I use this widget together with the "Flexi Page Widget" which make a wonderful combination. With "Per page widget" you can decide what widgets to show on a page. For each of the Main Sidebar, Showcase Sidebar, Footer Area One,Two and Three you have choices of Show, Hide or Special and for Special you have an edit button taking you to the widget settings page. here you can drag and drop whatever widgets you want to show on the page, In my case i use the "Flexi Page widget" showing all the sub pages of my parent pages as links in my widget area so that customers can easily link to other pages. i can also choose which pages are shown as links and which ones are hidden. Extremely customizable ! very practical when combined with other custom widgets.
