To protect your Blog from automated spambots, this plugin adds invisible formfields to your comment form.
Good support from the author.
Blog spamming is not stoppable. But I managed to minimize it to a very low level by using these plugins together:
NoSpamNX + Bad Behavior
Great plugin. It works discreetly and efficiently. Thank you.
I just had to gush about NoSpamNX. It's been my only spamproofing on lee.org for 6 months now and it's worked exceptionally.
I set wordpress to moderate unknown user comments
I installed NoSpamNX
I set the NoSpamNX Local Blacklist to block "http://" and "https://"
I removed the URL field from my comment interface
I put a note in my comment file telling users "Do not write “http://” in your comment, it will be blocked."
I still have to moderate new user comments but this is easy and I want to watch my blog comments anyway. The amount of spam I have to review from the moderation cue is very at 1-5 per week. On rare occasions, I enable the blocking of specific strings like "win free sex now" to stop some comment spam bots (I think I've done that 3 times in 6 months). NoSpamNX has been blocking 200-1,000 comment spams per day for a long while now.
Hurray and huzzah! Thank you!
Catches HUNDREDS of spam messages every week. I get headaches thinking about all the bots out there, and this plugin makes them just... go away. Good solution!
It works well ! *O*
No problem until now.
NoSpamNX used to catch nearly 99% of all the spam certain small sites received in 2010-2012. It still catches some spam without requiring almost any setup, but in a short test from this spring, the rate of spam recognition was down to 32%.
I've recently labeled over 100 spam comments that NoSpamNX has let through, so it seems that this plugin is not up-to-date as the scripts that spammers use. Stop Spammers is on my list of plugins to try out to fill the same need.
This plugin still catches some spam, doesn't need any setup and doesn't bother users, so it has its uses. If only the spam recognition rate would be as great as it used to be, this would be back among my favorite plugins, easily worth 5 stars.
Right now I recommend looking around for a more up-to-date solution.
Used to work when I first got it then stopped. Spam box was filling up and NoSpamNX wasn't catching a thing. When I tried support I was just told that it IS workng.
Don't waste your time with this plug-in.
This plugin is better and more elegant than using a captcha.
It was great for a very long time, but since 1 year, it's totally useless :(
Nearly all the bots bypass the protection, and only 1/4 is blocked by NoSpamNX. Sadly the spammers now the trick now... :/
