The most popular WordPress gallery plugin and one of the most popular plugins of all time with over 7.5 million downloads.
You know with a one star rating what i'm going to say. Like so many others, I upgraded my site and spent $60.00 to have my fully functioning site to slow to a crawl which Gallery Pro is to blame. Once I disable this plugin, my site is nice and responsive, but has no pictures! Well, this is completely unacceptable, and I've begun the move over to Gallery Bank - for $17.00 it doesn't have features you won't use and it works.
Too bad nobody can upgrade to version 2 and their WordPress website function normally. Tried to upgrade multiple times to no avail.
Do yourself a favor and look for something else.
This looked so promising but I cannot use the images already in my media library. I tried an import process but after an hour it copied only 2 images. I am not going to search for and re-upload all my images again. I did some research on this and the developer seems resistant if not downright hostile to making this improvement. It is astounding that he thinks this is a useful plugin for anyone with a large existing media library.
I updgraded to 2.0.31, lost ground. The only real issue I personally have with it - I can't determine how to wrap text around a ng slideshow. I have posted to the forum but have no response as of 10/16/13.
I work with wordpress. This plugin is a complete waste of time and effort. It creates links to pages that don't exist, it will inexplicably not allow you to remove the slideshow link without creating gaps in your gallery, and many templates are completely broken.
At one point in time, this plugin may have been usable, but in it's current state it is a complete waste of time and effort.
This plugin has not worked right since version 1.9.13. I have tried many times to update to a newer version, and always have to roll back. I am actively looking for something to replace this plugin since it looks like there is a fundamental flaw that is not being addressed.
As of today my update reads: You have version 1.9.13 installed. Update to 2.0.31.
Tried, Failed, Rolled Back. Think hard about forking the code from 1.9.13 where it worked and trying something new.
Crashed Site. Had to go to the backup. Lost half a day's work.
I've had no problems with this version; I'm also using Photocrati as my theme.
New version loads LOTS of separate CSS and JS files and doesn't offer a way to turn them off. It doesn't seem like Photocrati cares about what the large base of existing users want. I'm afraid they just hope to turn many of those users into paying "PRO" users by causing so much pain that everyone will have to pay them in hopes of getting support and a way to turn off crap that Photocrati is forcing on everyone.
