The most popular WordPress gallery plugin and one of the most popular plugins of all time with over 10 million downloads.
I've spent several fruitless days over a period of a month or two trying to get the 2.0.x upgrades working, without any success....
If there was a way to back my images out of the NG galleries and convert to something else...
The best way to manage your images within WordPress!
Unfortunately, this plugin is no longer as good as before. In fact, it's very bad and slow.
So I'm wondering ... what's going on with this plugin? New version is totally messed up. I just read "Open Letter to NG community..." and I think that what they wrote was not valid and they used disinformation to wash their hands. It's not working because coding is not good as it was before and lack of experience. Simple answer.
Also, you can't fix thousands of minor and big bugs recently. Untrue statement is that this plugin works for most of the people.
They developed plugin according to the principle complexity is inversely proportional to the functionalities.
I think they sell a pig in a poke. We're not that stupid.
I don't understand how NextGen could take the best gallery on the market and turn it into a useless pile of rubble in one upgrade.
Photocrati made a great plugin utterly unusable.
V2 is a total shambles and wasted days of my time on a basic family photo site. I wanted nothing fancy and couldn't even do that with v2
Installed v1.9.13 and had it all working in 30 minutes.
I installed your update which was a mistake. All my galleries are now inoperable! I have a lot of them, which are not mine, but my clients who will be contacting me soon to find out what the heck is going on. I've been trying for hours to get it back the way it was but nothing is working and I'm just wasting my time. I guess the old saying is true - if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Everything was working great before the update. What's going on????
I've been using NGG for years now on all the sites I own, and on those I manage for others. It has been a great gallery program... Until the 2.0 and subsequent versions came out a few weeks ago that is.
I don't know what Photocrati was thinking. They keep stating that they had 1000 beta tests with minimal problems, and nothing showed up that would have foreshadowed the problems users are now experiencing. WTF? They also stated that those of us who are having problems are in the minority, since a great many users have upgraded with no problems whatever. Again: WTF?
Given that NGG now conflicts with some of the most common plugins out there (eg: the Super Cache, although ostensibly that has been fixed in one or the the other updates since the initial 2.0 release, and Ultimate TinyMCE), I find it difficult to imagine that not one of those 1000 or so beta testers had either one or another of these popular plugins installed--or any of the countless of others that seem to be in conflict. Not to mention all the theme conflicts with WP themes like Twenty Twelve, Twenty Eleven, etc. Yes, some theme conflicts are possible, but didn't they even check the WP supplied themes?
Admittedly I'm not a developer, so I don't understand the process that a developer has to go through. I am however, an end user--an end user who has literally hundreds of galleries, and thousands of images in these galleries, all created in the earlier, stable versions of NGG. All these galleries represent hundreds of hours of my time, and my time is worth money. I have wasted a great deal of time of late installing 2.0; discovering it doesn't work; reporting errors; having those errors ignored; and finally rolling back to the last stable version 1.9.13.
Clearly I'm not impressed, and quite honestly, I'm not buying Photocrati's explanation of the sequence of events either.
If I didn't already have all these galleries, I don't know if I would install NGG at this time. Given that I have what I have though, I'm in a holding pattern. I keep coming back and checking to see what people are reporting, and I'm not seeing "the big fix" yet. I'm starting to lose hope that it will come, and that NGG will ever be compatible like it once was.
I did not have any idea what's going on with this plugin, until I update to version 2.x. Then I saw that every version after 2 is broken, and that the forum is full of requests for troubleshooting.
I looked into NGG 2.x code and saw thousands of new files, a new unknown framework and lots of mess. My server shows huge difference in CPU usage and a lot more queries than before.
I just can not believe that anyone could so quickly kill this plugin.
Respond on the problems on forum is always like: click on the report bug, try new beta version or "we will forward issue to developers". Who is that new developers?
Main and primary problem is framework, CPU usage, lots of request and queries.
Whether a new development team even know how much damage they did to users and the plugin?
They release new versions without testing, fixed minor bugs and do not know what their main problem. Interface is ruined. With the simple and practical interface, they have made a complete mess that is terrible buggy and slow.
So much time lost, and their work is for negative zero.
Do not install after 1.9.13 (only if you are a masochist!)
This plugin needs to be shut down as soon as possible (or get new developers) until it make more damage to users.
I'm so disappointed, what happend to our good old Nextgen plugin! At the time, when Alex updated it, all was fine.
Now since this 2.0.* update all is messed up: SEO, premium themes, many conflicts with other important plugins.
I highly recommend to NOT UPGRADE to a 2.0.* version! It's nearly impossible to go back without a lot messed up.
I'm highly disappointed of the author's work.
Please TEST FIRST some month on several themes, platforms, with the most well-known and often used plugins and THEN make a new release. But first letting out such a buggy plugin and then regretting with "open letters" and promises to fix these bugs - that's the wrong order!
I will look after a complete other plugin. My times of nextgen are nearly over, if there isn't a huge better way of fixing bugs!
Lo instale solo para probar pero parece que funciona bastante bien y tiene todas las herramientas que necesito, talves pruebe la version pro
