The most popular WordPress gallery plugin and one of the most popular plugins of all time with over 10 million downloads.
I have no idea why this plugin has been downloaded so many times. No where does it have an insert button to actually put the friggin' galleries in a page, put in a shortcode and that's what you see - no images and you can customize the gallery all you want - nothing changes. Would give it 0 stars if I could.
Awesome support. A+
When I upload a image the plugin takes the upload date as the date of the photo. After many versions there is not a fix for this bug.
I started using this plugin quite a while ago and loved how simple and error free it was. Upload your pictures, edit the alt and/or title tags and insert your shortcode on the page. Boom...lightbox plugin installed.
Then WordPress updated their software and it's been a downhill struggle since. NGG was updated but the thumbnails wouldn't display correctly. The 'fix' was to rollback to a previous version which, while it wasn't that hard, was inconvenient, especially when I had to do this on quite a few sites.
I left NGG alone for the next 3-4 versions, just waiting to hear good things about it before updating. In fact, one of my sites is still using that version (1.9.13) and, in fact, the lightbox option is still functional! However, during a recent site launch (a different site), I installed NGG (with the current 2.0.57 version) and found that it's STILL broken. I've tried all 6 of the Lightbox options and none of them work...click the link and it goes straight to it's own page (meaning I have to click the back button to get back to my site).
Oh wait, there's more. So now I'm stumped and decided to do a little research to see if anyone else is having these problems and sure enough, the most recent 10 (yes, 10) reviews are all about how this plugin has bit the dust and is no longer working.
Really? So disappointing that even after all the updates (from the WORKING 1.9.13 version) it's still not functional. It only has to do one thing correctly, in my opinion, and that's lightbox up a the picture you click on.
Stop already with the watermarks, styles, roles and capabilities, thumbnail options and reset options...delete it all and go back to what made this plugin useful; the one simple feature of putting the pic in a lightbox.
I'll be deleting it from all the sites I currently own/manage (around 30) and looking for something that works.
Does exactly what I expected. really nice plugin.
After update 2.039 -> 2.040
this plugin is not working.
In want to desinstall this for upload an older version, but the parameters are always in, it's impossible to remove this plugin completly.
bye bye Nextgen ! ! ! ! !
One big bugs, not a usefull plugin...
Sort order isn't working
Files ar missing even when they are in the right folder
Tooltips aren't showing up
Gallery templates aren't working
Used to work but since latest version short codes stopped working properly - i see ALOT of people with this issue and error but noone seems to be doing anything about it... :(
I finally gave up and used a better written program for my galleries.
Hi everyone, I was pulling my hairs for the three last days trying to make NextGen Gallery works on my website. I don't particularly like the interface (I find it to much complex) but it offer the ability to manage images in gallery and album which is great if you are handling large number of photos. HOWEVER it is impossible to make the lightbox works online ever if I had double checked that the links to .js which are correct. By the way, I wonder where the effect .js path are stored exactly, I neither find them in the database nor in the files content.
I noticed a problem concerning the following statement in the code (\wp-content\plugins\nextgen-gallery\products\photocrati_nextgen\modules\nextgen_basic_gallery\templates\thumbnails\index.php)
<?php echo esc_attr(stripslashes($image->description . "a")); ?>"
It is badly interpreted by my remote server (although set to PHP5) and causes the div statement to stop sudently just after data-description: "data-description>" then the class statement is skipped. Removing this line or forcing the class "class = ngg-lightbox" in the code don't make the thing works better so I give up and don't want to waste more time on this plugin... as many other users (just type "NextGen no lightbox" in google and enjoy the feedback).
PS: I just notices through the other comments and the web there is a pro version, I seems to be the best joke I never heard in my life !
Seems an excellant plugin but 1 problem, slowwww!
I have a multisite and my network is 3 times slower with this plugin installed.
