Love the plugin! I hope you guys keep it up and do some UI/UX tweaks. NextGen was always ugly, would love to see you guys ramp up the look. Thanks again!

Brilliant!

This seems to be working fine and exactly the same as NextGen 1.9.13 (as it should being the same code)

I was wanting to do the same thing and maintain the old version somewhere but didn't have the time so I am really pleased to see this plugin. Maybe I can contribute to development sometime, I really need a slideshow showing random images from a gallery.

Works Beautifully!

I manage several sites running NextGen. The "new and improved" version 2 broke all my galleries. I was a bit nervous switching to Nextcellent (NextGen Legacy) but the transition has been MUCH easier than I thought.

If it's done properly (read the documentation!) the transition can be done in minutes and the galleries never have to go offline.

I also have a bunch of other plugins that add extra functionality to my galleries and those all continue to work just fine too.

Thank you WPGetReady! Nextcellent job :)

Perfect, does exactly what NextGen used to do

I've used NextGen as my go-to gallery for years. It's really irritating that I haven't been able to update it on 20+ client sites since this summer... NextCellent is now my go-to gallery. Thanks!

Quality gallery that does all it needs to

I installed the Photocrati version of NextGen on a new site with some trepidation because of numerous reports of conflicts.

I always found the interface on the Photocrati version more complicated than necessary and many basic features simply didn't work. Thankfully before the galleries on the site had got to the stage were I was locked in, conflicts and bad coding began to emerge and speed checks showed that the Photocrati version was effectively throttling the site.

I took the plunge, deactivated it and installed this version of the old NextGen plug-in instead.

It does not have the fancy interface of the "upgraded" version but it does pretty much all you want from a gallery and it does it in a way which is intuitive and logical and it seems to swing along with pretty much any other plug-in or theme.

If a product is already excellent (and the original NextGen must have been one of the most popular WordPress plug-ins of all time) then there is no need for a constant upgrade path. Developers need to keep an eye on ensuring compatibility with the latest (and next) version of WordPress and keep a watch on feature requests and bug reports but the core functionality should always be maintained and it is silly to "upgrade" and release products which are not yet ready or have not been widely tested.

The developer of this plug-in says that if you are installing a new WordPress site then go with Photocrati. That is not good advice in my experience and I strongly encourage the developer to seek to maintain and organically develop this fork of the product using the solid core code that underpins it. To me, this fork is the "real" NextGen successor.

If something works, you stick with it!

I am very pleased with NextCellent Gallery and said so in my "So Long NextGEN" post:

Thank you for choosing the stable road, at least for the time being. Please note a little incompatibility I reported at the end of my post.
