Manual Control for Jetpack

Jetpack auto-activates new modules, without asking your permission. This plugin stops that.

Bringing sanity to the strange beast that is Jetpack
By ,

Jetpack is pretty much a love-hate affair: brilliant features, but utterly confusing (or even misleading) UX decisions.

Such as making it terribly easy to activate stuff without even noticing (by extending the activation area far beyond the "activate" button), and putting the "disable" button in a less-than-obvious location. In my book, those are crimes against elementary user experience rules.

Fortunately for us, Mark Jaquith does a great job in making Jetpack's behavior more reasonable, fixing those issues one by one (see also his aptly named Menu Humility plugin).

Mark, you're awesome! If only Automattic would make you Jetpack product leader. :)

Thank you! It works as described.

Jetpack is annoying and awesome at the same time - which is weird because if Automattic wanted to be non-hypocritical, you could enable only the awesomeness.

Well, that's what this plugin does, and it does it well. Thank you Mark.

Simple and awesome

I use ManageWP to managed my client sites, and I've been avoiding updating Jetpack on those sites because I didn't want to have to go through each site and manually turn off all the new features. With Manual Control I don't have to do that.

Thanks Mark!
