The MailChimp plugin allows you to quickly and easily add a signup form for your MailChimp list.
After seeing MC website I thought they were a serious company.
This plugin is big mess. Installation guides and readme.txt offer no help whatsoever to solve my problem and do not correspond to the actual plugin version.
Thanks a lot.
It integrates perfectly and simply. I was literally done setting it up in under 5 minutes.
However, it's ugly out of the box. They give you a CSS cheat sheet so you know how to style it. I haven't yet gotten around to that.
It would be great if they could add custom merge variables.
Clearly there are problems with this plugin, I rarely see such negative reviews. Join me. Complain to MailChimp -- tell them to fix the plugin! If enough users squawk, they'll eventually get on it. There's no excuse for bad code.
Super easy and automated!
I am developing a multilingual website, so any update on translation side will be appreciated.
Probably initial versions of this plugin may have caused it to receive 1 star a lot, but now it works as a 5 star plugin :)
Working but not upto the mark , bad code, it has hard coded JS as an optimist i hope this will be overcome soon.
Up and running in no-time. Life saver!
This is a barebones plugin. You might need to know a little CSS to style it. I'm at a fairly beginner level. They were able to help me in the support section.
If you're trying to decide if this is the right plugin for you, take a look at the support questions. The developers provide an amazing level of support. They really provide beyond the scope of what's expected.
I was looking at a premium plugin to get the customization I desired, but they were able to help me through the support section.
Blog frontend breaks upon activation. Not using anything special, just standard blog and out of the box theme. Many bad practices in this code. Would not recommend :(
The most highly rated MailChimp form widget requires a $35 PRO subscription to enable group selection - and that's too high for my non-profit volunteer-powered wordpress site. That feature works in this plugin with out the big bucks
The embed code provided by MC that I tried in a text widget doesn't display success or validation messages due to an issue with jquerey 1.6 described here: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/mailchimp-embed-not-showing-success-response This is simply too confusing to the end user to be viable.
In spite of its low rating this plugin worked perfectly for me out of the box.
You can enable by logging into your MC account instead of having to search for your API code.
You can adjust the colors of form from the control panel
They supply a css styling 'cheat sheet'
You can fully customize which fields are displayed.
Optional "unsubscribe" link
Would prefer that it didn't load CSS automatically - option to disable this would be nice.
Would be nice to offer an Update preferences link in addition to unsubscribe.
I didn't experience the crashing issues described in the one star ratings. Would be nice to know which themes/plugins those folks are using
