Amazing Plugin and support always present!
I don't want to disrespect other map plugins, but this is the best map plugin I've ever found.
I was looking for a map plugin that allows programmatic add/search/update markers on the map. There are quite some number of map plugins in WordPress, but reading through their introductions/descriptions were not enough for me to figure out whether or not they can serve my purpose. So I had to install them one by one, and try each of them.
I was repeating this tedious steps (install a plugin, try it, and remove it) until I came to know this great Leaflet Maps Marker.
Thumb up for the plugin writer.
Longer review because I'm explaining how it works which I didn't understand at first. But this is THE most incredible plugin. Here's how it works in case you're as new as I was.
You make an individual Marker Map showing one location (well laid out data entry despite its many options). That takes about a minute if you have the address handy. If you want a number of locations to show on a map, you create a Layer Map (again, easy data entry layout despite many options). And on the layer, you call in whatever Marker Maps you've created that you want. They're listed below the layer map. Set the zoom level you want visitors to see on default for that layer, and that's it, you're ready to go. A Layer Map takes me about 2 minutes, max. Plus, if you forgot to assign your markers to a particular layer, there's a bulk-action setup so you can select the ones you want to assign to that layer all at once. Sooo friendly!
Next, when writing posts, there's now a button next to "Add Media" which is "Add Map" and whammo, your individual marker maps and layer maps are listed. Highlight which map you want in the post and hit "Insert map" and in comes the bracketed shortcode. Place it wherever you want the map to appear within the post, and presto. Done deal. No glitches, no confusion. Easily changeable.
Pop-up balloons on Marker Maps are either defaulted to show, or set for click-marker-to-show/hide, your call, with each one individually. You can put anything in those pop-up balloons you want. This is sooo easy, sooo user friendly (both backend and frontend) and everything works. I did have a glitch on the free version which disappeared when I downloaded the "free 30 days trial full version" and it may well have been something I was doing but I'd suggest starting with the free version just to see how it works, but as soon as you're thinking you like it, go to the 30-day trial. LOVE this plugin! I use a ton of maps and they have to be VERY flexible. Heads, tails and bodies over the other two map plugins I tried. Just no freaking comparison at all.
Up and running right after install. A ton of great features in the free version, although I'll most likely upgrade to Pro.
Previously we created maps directly at Google Maps and embedded the map-code in WordPress; however marker-icons and other graphics had to be imported from a hosted site. With Leaflet Maps Marker, everything can be done within WordPress, and with the various map selections, a single map can now be viewed beyond the viewing options offered by Google Maps alone. Another benefit is that the plugin can be translated into any language. Great support and great plugin - well done!!
Mapsmarker gets you very far down the road of having custom maps with very little effort. That really helps us get our clients with WordPress sites, beautiful effective maps for a very low budget. Great work.
I can not say enough about this mapmarker plugin. Other programmers should take notes on how to code and handle support for this plugins author.
1: The free version Is NOT crippled in a way that it MUST be used as a pro version. Things like marker clustering and deleting a marker are the main things (has other features too) in the pro version. This makes it a working simple VERY useable free version. [Very impressed]
2: Even with a 5 hour time zone difference, Support was not only free but much less then 24 hour replies, Some problems where even my typos. And ALL comments and suggestions where thought out replies, every single one of them. This should be a model of how the right way to handle not only coding, but support and development. NOTE: this was all with the free version and not the pro. [overwhelmed at the level of caring about his script that it not only functions as intended but that you have it working as you, as the person using it needs it to be for your site]
3: Very rich in features, can display maps any place on your WP site or even outside WP.
4: Can add custom marker icons (even has the place to obtain tons of them free, to augment the ones that come with it)
5:Has API support that allows for customisable forms and other scripts to use direct url for a wide range of uses, in manipulation of the markers and maps.
6: Im sure theres more I could say about this plugin, I have not even used a 1/2 the features included in this plugin yet.
Non at this time, I am confident if I explained the bugs, problems, or anything i had to the author he'd make every effort to fix as fast as he could, I even saw in a comment that he was willing to login to the admin panel with temp access to help personally fix the issue (not only free but within moments of the problem post), so having a con for this plugin would be very hard pressed to have happen, also takes suggestions and issues seriously and fixes them (saw this in comments too) at a blazing speed. The author takes prime in this plugin. having a con I believe would be impossible, and would only happen if a person did not properly convey the problem so it can be fixed.
Again I cant say enough about this plugin. its surely the best plugin I have used and I look forward to the upcoming roadmap the author has planed. I also look forward to any other plugins he may make in the future. Simply an incredible plugin THank you for making it.
This plugin just works fantastic and has awesome support with it, even in the free version. Whoever uses maps seriously should consider this plugin and make sure to go for the PRO version for additional awesomeness!
