The official plugin from the StudioPress team.
This works but could do with an update to make it easier to use/ set-up.
When you first install and then browse to Appearance -> Widgets and drop the new Genesis Latest Tweets widget into e.g. a sidebar, a link is shown to go to the settings. Clicking on this link doesn't work and you get a 'You do not have the permissions to access this page' error.
However, going to Genesis -> Latest Tweets works fine. :)
Once there, it isn't entirely clear what to do because the labels shown are no longer up to date and there is now another 'Create access token' step to complete first on https://apps.twitter.com before you have all the info you need.
Once you've clicked that button and created an access token, it isn't too hard to guess what to copy and paste:
OAuth Consumer Key = API key
OAuth Consumer Secret = API secret
OAuth Access Token = Access token
OAuth Access Secret = Access token secret
After copy pasting those and hitting save, go back to Appearance -> Widgets -> Genesis Latest Tweets and you'll see there are now widget options to choose/ complete :)
Won't let me change the settings, says I don't have the correct permissions. Based on the lack of support on the forum, I can't see anyone coming back to me with a fix either.
Version 1.1.3 works great-- just make sure when you paste in your API keys you don't leave any blank spaces. ;)
Set up your Twitter API, plop in your keys, save settings, add a widget and configure it, and BOOM - you're up and running.
Very efficient and lightweight.
Doesn't get better than this!
Thank you Travis (wpsmith) and StudioPress team!
Tried it with Studiopress platinum theme, Genesis latest version. Set up twitter api keys. On home page the widget displays "just now" with link to page does not exist. Added the link text -- also goes to a page does not exist. No tweets showing. What am I doing wrong? It looks easy, but I guess it isn't.
Just updated to the latest version of this plugin and although the setup takes 10mins or so it is well worth it.
Works perfectly and is styled to your Genesis theme - love it.
Good work Travis
Does not support the 1.1 API.
Works perfectly in WP 3.5.1
The funny thing is I've tried a lot of the other plugins and they all do exactly what this does but they do it in a much more complicated, confusing way. This one is as simple as drag and drop. Best of all the formatting is already perfect! No need to much about with the CSS.
When this plugin works, it is pretty cool. How often the plugin is actually returning the Latest Tweets, instead of the:
The Twitter API returned an error while processing your request. Please try again.
...error, is anyone's guess. I don't mind plugins being simplistic, but even the most basic, most simple plugins, have to work, consistently. This one, doesn't.
