Gallery Bank is an easy to use Responsive WordPress Gallery Plugin for photos, videos, galleries and albums.
Grr! Plugin is not free! Would-be free version is useless.
I have put in at least three questions to their help center over the course of a week and have not received a single response. Looking at their help blog shows weeks with no response for questions that are being asked (the same issues I am having) with no response. The only responses from their help is to give them the keys to the site by giving them the FTP log in information. The ONLY answers that I have seen have come from the user community.
It has a spam-ware odor, only ads to upgrade to the pro version and warnings that you can't really use the plugin without paying
Look, I get it, you need people to buy your plugin for you to survive, but I can't even test the damn thing to see if it works for me or not without having the "premium verison" rammed down my throat.
The quality of your product will make me buy it, not big red banners saying YOU'RE LIMITED TO TWO ALBUMS, PLS BUY THE PREMIUM VERSION PLS PLS PLS.
The "premium" product is beta quality at best. The developer is responsive to email requests for help, but their solutions involve requesting your FTP credentials, something I wasn't willing to provide to my live site because they should have been able to reproduce and correct the problems I reported in their own dev environment. The poor quality of the paid product didn't inspire any confidence on my part to give them access to high visibility site.
The responsive layouts, especially the masonry one, may be very good one day, but they have serious problems with the lightboxes. One gallery displayed squished up on the screen, another did strange things to the text case of the image captions and the color settings in the component are moot for all of them.
If they can get their lightbox issues resolved they might have a good product, but they get a big fat 0 from me for not giving me a refund when I asked for one.
I tried the free version of this plugin to see if it would suit my needs and it did. I went to their website to purchase the Pro version. I made the purchase within the first week of February. By the end of February got a little nervous that I hadn't received it-- no download links or attachments via email.
I opened a ticket through their website and by mid-March was informed that I would have to provide them with my WordPress site login page and credentials in order for THEM to install the plugin. Not once during the checkout process did they mention that method of delivery. I declined and asked again for a download link or email attachment. I didn't feel comfortable giving a stranger complete access to my site. Once again I asked them to provide me a download link or email attachment.
It's poor security practice to give a stranger full access to your site. This company should know this and should deliver their product in another manner. Or at the very least make it clear prior to checkout that they require such sensitive information for delivery. I would never have completed the purchase if I had known.
DO NOT BUY. THIS IS A SCAM!
They will not give you the version that they are advertising in their website!
- NO facebook/social integration (its not even in the settings!)
- NO tags
- NO upload window (you just clean a button and it pops up the native wordpress media upload)
- NO gallery bank button in the editor
- NO presort in the sorting page
Like what createwds said their website says they are on version 3.0 but they will only give you version 2.1.7, they will give you an inferior product even if you paid for it.
I have emailed them again and again. Every time they just ask for the wordpress login details. I gave them the login details every time. They could have just emailed me a zip file of version 3.0 and be done with it but did they do it? NO! I asked them please email me the updated version. But they did not...
They even asked for FTP access to my website and I gave them access to the admin panel of my hosting! They said they will fix it as they just need update it.
They never gave me the updated version. After giving full access to my website they just deleted the gallery bank plugin.
I raised a pay-pal dispute and escalaed it but pay-pal denied to give me a refund because the product is "intangible".
DO NOT BUY. WASTE OF MONEY.
I had a tight client deadline.
I was excited about the plugin.
I eagerly bought the 3.0 version.
But it never came.
I was given version 2.1.7
So I emailed them asking for the right version.
I never received a response.
So I raised a paypal dispute.
They replied via paypal, saying they would give me 3.0 if I closed the dispute.
I said my deadline has come and gone. Give me a refund.
They said no.
Who wouldn't give a refund in this case?
1 star rating :-(
Free version is so limited as to be useless and has annoyingly aggressive marketing for pro version.
This plugin looks promising but what you can download here is not more then a small tech demo. The limitations are bad and if you want to have a useable version you have to pay.
I have nothing against Pro Versions with more features but this plugin uses WordPress.org as advertising page only.
