Add Facebook social plugins and the ability to publish new posts to a Facebook Timeline or Facebook Page. Official Facebook plugin.
It's great to have social interaction on your website until you update the plugin and the comment box disappears. Did anyone at Facebook test this before rolling it out? I thought this product was great until the update. Now where is the support?
You know this is a good plugin - in principal, but it is beset with issues.
First of all the lack of documentation to help people, especially those who may not be tech savvy or familiar with Facebook jargon. This sadly also then goes onto the support - support is a regurgitation of changelogs and full of tech speak and assumptions things have been resolved just because support has answered.
My first issue with this plugin and consequently first call for support saw the support tell me to read the changelog and click the topic to resolved - this is not acceptable as support and also quite telling - there is an assumption that you've been "stoopid" and not read the documentation.
I think FB need to look at this plugin and properly test updates before they go out. They also need to work better with the WordPress repository as comments are now owned by FB and should something go wrong, the client/user looses their comments.
FB, need to also look at their documentation. It claims a simple out of the box set-up but it is anything but.
FB also need to look at their support - I am not saying the person is bad just the way they look at support issues and their subsequent answers and quick resolved ticking are not helping. The assumption that everyone speaks the same tech-speak as them is also not helpful.
I'm giving it a three because as I said in principal its good - things just need looking into.
What is the need for a plugin if it does not support core WordPress functionalities?
I don't see why an official Plugin from Facebook would not support WordPress comments. I love to make my sites social, but also love to have my comments written to my DB. Unfortunately, this Official Facebook plugin does not have any interaction with my DB, so all my comments are resident on Facebook server, any day Facebook decided they don't like my face, I will automatically loose ALL my comments.
This I find very stressful.
Secondly, cant this plugin be made more easier to enable more non-techie bloggers simplify their lives?
Bad design, hard customzation, very small fonts - very poor plugin
Conflict with IE9.
This plugin is very hard to setup. You need to create a Facebook app. I'm not a programmer that's why I use WordPress. Try to create an app with Facebook GOOD LUCK if you have any questions...
I have a decent server running Ubuntu 12.04 + Nginx + PHP-FPM + WordPress 3.5.1. We use this plugin (version 1.2.3) and at some point performance got terrible, so "request_slowlog_timeout" came in handy.

Now I know who is responsible...
This might either be the best (if you know exactly how to handle it, which I don't) or the worst plugin of all times. The installation procedure is horrible. And the instructions are even more confusing. One would think that the developer is either a sadist or the most inept work-flow designer in the world.
The user should not be forced to wade through this horrible procedure. So I'm putting this app in an early grave.
I'm usually not a friend of 1 star reviews, they always feel a bit biased. However this plug-in deserves its one star, congratulations! Today after re-activating Jetpack comments, I realised that the Jetpack comment box (which is actually much better than FB's own comment box, because you can also comment using Twitter or your email) had a huge empty space underneath. Not in Chrome and Safari, however in Firefox and any mobile browser I tried on my Android Jelly Bean device. Several frustrating and unproductive hours went down the drain until I realised, it was the FB-plugin breaking my Jetpack comment box. Obtrusive and peculiar as Facebook itself. Don't install unless you get a kick out of checking what it will break next.
Absolutely abominable. Don't know if it's the OpenGraph that's crap, though it's easy to believe that seeing how you have practically eliminated apps like Social RSS from being fully functional for WordPress powered sites.
This should not even be allowed in the repository. Waste of time. Convoluted settings, practically impossible to setup unless you happen to be tech savy, particularly FB tech savy.
Finally, if you've been patient enough to sit through a couple of hours of pure frustration with some internet guides trying to to their best to help you with this piece of crap, there appear to be constant issues with publishing.
Ridiculous requirements for fanpage naming in reference to the app name.
Tags, images, pulled wrong from websites, at random it seems, being in no way associated with the post that is being published.
And last but not least, it does not show up in the Plugins list in WP admin, so can't delete it unless you have access to your site's ftp.
'Make your WordPress site social in a couple of clicks, powered by Facebook' - the description should be taken off, it's straight face lying. You can't even uninstall it with a couple of click, let alone set it up.
