Create and maintain events, including complex reoccurring patterns, venue management (with Google maps), calendars and customisable event lists
I've tried a number of events/calendar plugins on behalf of my clients and this is by FAR the most customizable, well-documented, least-fuss plugin I've tried. All the main wanna-have features are free: all-day events, events that span days, events that repeat, a lovely calendar, categories (and user-dictated custom category colors), saved/reusable venues, Google Maps integration, YAY. The paid upgrade gets you booking/e-comm. Very appropriate and well thought out and many kudos to the developers!
The downside (I guess) is that if you're not happy with the defaults you need to edit theme/template files to get things exactly as you want them. For me of course that's a huge plus as I'm a developer and want to be able to tweak everything (and I do mean EVERYTHING - every event/archive layout, widget layouts, everything), but for those who want an admin panel with tons o' options in it that control the look and feel I guess not so much.
Another plus for developers: great documentation, and wherever humanly possible it seems like the devs for this plugin have reused WP core functions rather than rolling their own. Love that.
This plugin works excellently, and the author is both extremely quick to respond to any support questions, but also fast on keeping the plugin updated. Works exactly as advertised, and extremely powerful.
This plugin blew me away, Over the past 2 years I have tried a about 4 different event plugins for clients. This was the first time using Event Organiser. It allowed me to easily add and remove features that it came with, I could tap into the Taxonomies I had already created for other post types and related them to the "event" post type. Allowed me to use wp_query to display my posts with specific taxonomies attached.
global $post; $post_slug=$post->post_name; $args = array ( 'post_type' => 'event', 'post_status' => 'publish', 'order' => 'ASC', 'orderby' => 'eventstart', 'posts_per_page' => '6', 'cities' => $post_slug, ); // The Query $query_events = new WP_Query( $args );
Beyond happy with this plugin!
Hi, is there any ways to have multiple event organizer for different usage?
e.g. I have one installed mainly to add party or personal events and so that i can show in the calender. This will have it's own category sets.
Then on the same wordpress, i would like to have another event organizer to be installed and used solely for working/job events. This will also have a different category sets.
Then another installation for my family events, and with its own category sets.
bottom line is to have multiple installations of event organizer in the same wordpress. how can i do so?
i believe it will be different database as well?
You know, most people don't run a hotel or a music group, so the booking option is really an option for a lot of people.
Which is my case, working a template for a small RPG-guild, they just needed a calendar to show their games and what their association was up to. No need for booking and all that but enormous need for recurring event and maps and place for informations.
Just the perfect plugin. Really good it is free for all those "basic" needs and good thing that if you need the booking stuff, there is a pro feature.
Live long Event Organiser !
Easy to use and there are my schortcodes to add more great functionalities. Very flexible plugin.
What a great plugin!! I have used other calendars before but this is by far the best. When I did get a problem (A fault of my own) the Plugin guy was quick to help out! Quality!
This is the best event calendar plugin I've found. It's very developer friendly and very well documented. It supports custom templates and has several widgets. You can pretty much make this plugin do what you want, where you want, how you want.
Event Organiser Calender are simple & Easy to customize.
Setting up a local band web site and wanted almost EXACTLY what this simple and straightforward Event Organiser / Calendar does.
The functionality seems easy enough for my Editor to use and full featured enough to satisfy all of our basic needs.
Being able to add Venues and pull in Google Maps is AWESOME as is being able to add Events right in Calendar view.
The shortcodes add Calendar view and Event view to pages very nicely for the end user to access and see. Great.
I just installed this plug-in this evening and have not had time to fully explore, but this looks PERFECT for us!
Thanks much to the developers. Good job~!
