Create and maintain events, including complex reoccurring patterns, venue management (with Google maps), calendars and customisable event lists
After spending hours trawling through the internet for a WordPress Calendar / Event Organizer plugin, my eyes settled on this.
From screenshots it looked quite good and using the demo, it certainly gave me relief that I had found a plugin that I could use.
Installation was moderately easy. Any troubles I had were resolved by good support from the plugin author.
However after two days my eyes lighted on another calendar plugin. Although I enjoyed using this, the aesthetics compared to my new found plugin were not as good. I would say that is the only thing to be improved.
But while I write this review, I still ponder on whether to continue using this plugin or the other one I found.
Tried the free version which kind of worked but is nowhere near as good as its competitors. Tried the pro version which was unusable, and getting a refund is out of the question.
one of if not the best events plugin for wp ive come across, only issue is the dev needs to make it an option to use individual templates for the plugin in its files rather than all or none of the plugins templates this would make it more compatible with frameworks and not just common themes
Also he needs to re think pricing and membership for pro and addons
But aprt from that i would recommend giving it a whirl.
The Events are working great, but on the free version, no options... no template (ugly)... aweful makes nobody come back to the website with such horrible pluggin... on the free plugin... there's no button to click to get the full calendar... it looks so ugly that I trie different Even plugins...
Event Organiser Calendar its a great plugin. THX.
I've used this plugin on a few project now, and it has always met the spec. The first time I used it there were a few things I was missing, and even a few feature requests I had for the developer and response time was great.
Thanks for the great code Stephen!
I've tried a number of events/calendar plugins on behalf of my clients and this is by FAR the most customizable, well-documented, least-fuss plugin I've tried. All the main wanna-have features are free: all-day events, events that span days, events that repeat, a lovely calendar, categories (and user-dictated custom category colors), saved/reusable venues, Google Maps integration, YAY. The paid upgrade gets you booking/e-comm. Very appropriate and well thought out and many kudos to the developers!
The downside (I guess) is that if you're not happy with the defaults you need to edit theme/template files to get things exactly as you want them. For me of course that's a huge plus as I'm a developer and want to be able to tweak everything (and I do mean EVERYTHING - every event/archive layout, widget layouts, everything), but for those who want an admin panel with tons o' options in it that control the look and feel I guess not so much.
Another plus for developers: great documentation, and wherever humanly possible it seems like the devs for this plugin have reused WP core functions rather than rolling their own. Love that.
This plugin works excellently, and the author is both extremely quick to respond to any support questions, but also fast on keeping the plugin updated. Works exactly as advertised, and extremely powerful.
This plugin blew me away, Over the past 2 years I have tried a about 4 different event plugins for clients. This was the first time using Event Organiser. It allowed me to easily add and remove features that it came with, I could tap into the Taxonomies I had already created for other post types and related them to the "event" post type. Allowed me to use wp_query to display my posts with specific taxonomies attached.
global $post; $post_slug=$post->post_name; $args = array ( 'post_type' => 'event', 'post_status' => 'publish', 'order' => 'ASC', 'orderby' => 'eventstart', 'posts_per_page' => '6', 'cities' => $post_slug, ); // The Query $query_events = new WP_Query( $args );
Beyond happy with this plugin!
Hi, is there any ways to have multiple event organizer for different usage?
e.g. I have one installed mainly to add party or personal events and so that i can show in the calender. This will have it's own category sets.
Then on the same wordpress, i would like to have another event organizer to be installed and used solely for working/job events. This will also have a different category sets.
Then another installation for my family events, and with its own category sets.
bottom line is to have multiple installations of event organizer in the same wordpress. how can i do so?
i believe it will be different database as well?
