I started using the Lite version before purchasing an enterprise level license to take advantage of some of the extra features and manager my 500+ events per year. The tech support is top notch and the Event Espresso team usually replies within 30 minutes to an hour. Creating and managing events/bookings is very simple and intuitive. They even have some cool capabilities that aren't necessarily advertised that allow more advanced users to get more out of the plugin like the ability to modify the .po files and maintain my customization throughout upgrades. Like any plugin, it won't be able to do EVERYTHING you need it to, but there are enough options there to accomplish the same goals by changing your processes.
I just recently purchased the Personal License and I had some issues with the install. I sent an email with my concerns and received a response within hours. It was an unusual situation and they offered to do the install for me - without charging me. I was incredibly impressed by that. I had another issue where I put the site license key on the wrong website - I wrote them and explained what I had done - it was my error - and in less than an an hour they responded to me and reset the site license for no additional charge. I expected to be charged in both situations and was pleasantly surprised with their responsiveness and generosity in helping me out. Service is everything! Well done Event Espresso!
When I upgraded my website to a Word Press site, I needed an event registration product of some kind. I spent a lot of time investigating my options. I narrowed it down to two. Event Espresso being one of the two. After digging into the product deeper, I chose Event Espresso. I am not a website builder, but I hack around and eventually get things done. Without out a doubt I made a good decision going with Event Espresso. Spent the money to get the premium support. You won't be disappointed. The only reason I gave them 4 out of 5 stars is because they don't offer telephone support. Even without telephone support, the support team is very responsive to questions and very helpful!!!
Worthless in my opinion. You are not able to configure much of anything without paying for a full version. Save your time and look elsewhere.
Uploaded the plugin, logged onto wordpress site, activate plugin, web site hung.
Almost immediately got an email from the free host site complaining about the following slow SQL: "MySQL Query: select * from information_schema.tables where table_name = \\\'wp_events_attendee_cost\\\' limit 1"
Deleted everything from the site. Re uploaded everything from scratch (WordPress & etc.). Tried to activate the plugin again - browser hung - more irate emails from host, etc, etc, etc.
I use Event Espresso Pro and would give it 5 stars. However this review are for the lite version:
Recently I used Event Espresso Lite to set up an event for a charity fund-raiser. I fully expected fewer features, but was disappointed that the features that were included did not work as expected, and was particularly frustrated with broken or deficient functionality when clicking links in the emails sent from the website by the plugin, and a limit of 50 records on an event's attendee list (a bug, I think).
As I said, the Pro version works great. Looks like there's not too much pride embodied in the Lite version though!
I tried a number of other event registration / event management tools and none of them had the registration flexibility I needed. Another thing I like is that I took their user survey and got a personal response a few days later addressing each feedback point I made. That's a nice touch. There are a few things I'd like to see added, but all in all it's a pretty mature product that does exactly what I need it to do. Great job guys/gals.
While trying to set up a new site to handle event registrations and payments I tested a few other potential plugins before this one. It was such a relief to find that this one worked intuitively, was easy to set up and works with minimal effort. It also looks good in my theme with zero CSS alterations. Thanks for making my life easier!
I freakin' love this plugin. I did a test drive of the lite version along with 6 other event registration plugins (some free, some premium). EE stood out as the clear winner of the freebies. So i invested in the premium version. Worth every penny! It does things I never even thought to inquire about - things that save me precious time, like talking to my membership plugin. Score!
I especially appreciated the "Known Plugin Conflicts" list. That saved me a ton of time. Why don't more plugins provide that info?
For the haters who are trashing this plugin, let me just say... free hosting? Really?? You get what you pay for. If you truly care about your business or cause, invest a few bucks in a REAL hosting plan. If you're living in "borrowed" space you have no control. The problem is your hosting, not EE.
It took me a little while to test and get everything working/configured as needed but it's all done now, working perfectly and provides everything my client was looking for.
When I needed technical support to work out a theme conflict issue their technical support staff was quick to respond, lend a helping hand and get the issue resolved expeditiously.
When I found a minor bug they immediately jumped on it and issued a hot fix the same evening. Talk about CUSTOMER SUPPORT!
I wish everyone was as responsive as these guys are. Absolute Kudos to the whole Event Espresso team.
