Allows an admin (or capable user) to edit the author slug of a user, and change the author base.
I favor this one.
Worked exactly as it was supposed to, changing the author slug flawlessly.
This plugin was a breeze to get set up. Just install, and the Author Slug area of the users section appears and makes it really easy to start using the authors' names without having to go into the database and modify the data directly every time a new author is added. Thank you!
Used this a few times now and I love the extra security aspect of hiding authors pages, but also that you can group your users under crazy or just different custom author slugs to match your website (say clients or staff for example).
An unused and simply brilliant plugin. I use to hide my login username. Works perfectly.
Keep up the good work, donation coming soon,
Many thanks, such a simple fix - I totally agree with earlier comments "this fix should be code in WP right from the start!"
I was never aware of how the URL http://www.???/author/username appeared from post threads until last night when I had hackers trying to use my personal username (not Admin!!) to break in. At first I thought they gained access to my DB, phew was it a relief when I found forum threads leading to this plugin.
This plugin actually helped me solve an author archive 404 problem I was having due to a conflict between Yoast and Woocommerce. It does what it says, changing your author archive permalinks.
Edit author slug is a great plugin! Thanks Brandon!
I have been concerned that the author permalinks that appear on my site provide visitors with too much information about the authors on my site. So, I set out to figure out the problem, and I discovered that as a result of setting post permalinks to use the post title, the author permalink used a similar type of algorithm.
This is problematic, and I set out to fix it. Your plug-in does an excellent job of providing easy access to a function, which most of us consider should be part of WordPress, but which is not. As a result, your plug-in, although relatively simple, is very valuable, and your quick and responsive troubleshooting is also a huge help to all of us.
