EasyRecipe makes it easy to enter, format and print recipes, as well as automagically doing the geeky stuff needed for Google's Recipe View.
I really wanted to like this plug in; I even upgraded to the paid version and it has just been a major disappointment.
Sure, it looks great (one star for that) but it has too many bugs.
For instance, if I do a spell check in WP, it adds some code to every misspelled word or words WP doesn't recognize. I'll have to manually remove this string of code from my recipe which is very time consuming. I can no longer use the WP spell check for this reason
My first support ticket got a response after three weeks; I submitted one about the spell check issue which was over two months ago!! Some free apps have way better support than this app I PAID FOR.
Needless to say I'll be looking for a better solution.
its an upsale to bad wordpress lets you add it
... going to try the zip recipe plugin instead. What a waste of $25 ;-(
Loved the look of this and upgraded to the paid version almost at once.
Put it on my site at http://www.lapaloma.info/recipes-3/ and have had nothing but trouble since.
Two outstanding support requests, one four days old.
It has crashed my server and the freelance consultant I am paying to populate the site with content is very unhappy as it won’t let her do her job.
Suggest you hold off installing this until someone at the other end responds.
With this plugin activated, no posts show up - all I get is a blank page. As soon as I deactivate the plugin, the posts show up again.
Despite the advertisement, the pro (paid) version does not import recipes from Cook'n v10. Without that import function, Easy Recipe is little more than a recipe formatter. Looks like I'll be looking for freelance help from overseas to cut and paste recipes. Oh well.
Unfortunately, I can't find a plugin out there that will do this. Shame because recipe blogging is a huge interest item.
At 3:00 PM EST 1/24/2013:
Looked like a great plugin, but when activated it took down my entire site. Every webpage returned the message "HTTP Error 500 (Internal Server Error): An unexpected condition was encountered while the server was attempting to fulfill the request." while the plugin was active.
Tech support told me to uninstall and re-install the plugin and maybe my theme conflicted with the plugin. After telling them that uninstall/re-install, trying multiple themes and uninstalling all other plugins did not work, I have not heard back.
As of 2:45 PM EST on 1/25/13 I still have not heard back.....
I installed the latest 3.2.1211 and found that it now publish your recipes to http://www.fooderific.com and you can't turn it off. Even with the box unchecked it still pushes your recipes out. My recipes are my own for my use not to beef up someone else's web site!
Also the registration information for fooderific.com is hidden so you cannot see who is behind this site.
Shame on you!
Here's what I did to solve the issue. Look in "easyrecipe/lib/EasyRecipeFooderific.php" and edit this line.
const FOODERIFIC_URL = 'http://www.fooderific.com/plugin/ping.php';
I modified it so the fooderific URL is now blank.
const FOODERIFIC_URL = '';
Don't forget to save!
That seems to stop it from sending out your recipes.
There are quite a few of these WP recipe plugins. So if you cant get this to work try another. I'll give it another chance as I really don't want to have to redo all my recipes, but it's on thin ice.
No longer working as it used to... support does not respond.. I even have upgraded to premium version. It is now worthless and I can't even use it.
