EasyRecipe makes it easy to enter, format and print recipes, as well as automagically doing the geeky stuff needed for Google's Recipe View.
I was concerned when reading a couple of the 1-Star ratings that were left, but I was willing to give the PRO version a chance after trying the demo. I've only had it for 24 hours, but everything seems to be working and nothing on my site is broken.
I took off a star for a couple of reasons.
1.The "import" of recipes doesn't exist - not for the plugin user. You are only able to export your own recipes to their website (They call it import, referring to their end.) I think this is more than a bit deceiving to the buyer.
2.The only other thing is the inserting of pictures. A bit of a pain in the ass and that might be my not finding an easier way to get a "featured" photo loaded. I have to insert an image into the recipe, so that it is available to pick as a featured image, then I have to go back and delete the image from inside the recipe. If I don't do that it seems I have to provide a url for the image.
Overall though, it really is a good plugin. I tried almost all of them before deciding on Easy Recipe. Others I tried had major issues. This one didn't give me any problems.
What I'd like to see in future updates:
Instructions provided on the templates for those who submit recipes. Many aren't familiar with how to proceed.
An optional area to provide a link somewhere on the completed recipe form that lets visitors know they can post their own recipes. The link could lead to the submission area ("detail" page).
I started my blog at the end of November. I became very aware of the inconsistencies of the way my recipes appeared. I search the plug-ins and found this one. I love it so I am upgrading today.
I've been using Easy Recipe for more than a year and it is by far, the best of all the recipe plugins I've tested. I use it extensively on Epicurus.com, one of the biggest food sites using WP. It handles tens of thousands of recipes without any difficulty and makes sure we get great SEO results. Well done!
Works great and easy to use, even for the beginner. Customer support is tops. I researched and tried various recipe plugins and easy recipe is the way to go. I also purchased Easy Recipe Plus and even better! I would not hesitate to use this plugin.
... going to try the zip recipe plugin instead. What a waste of $25 ;-(
When I downloaded this originally it didn't work & it took several weeks to get help - BUT when I did get a response back, they were super helpful & now I love it!! Im so glad i kept it. Really user friendly & looks super clean. I just needed to un-install it & re-install it. Thanks!
Loved the look of this and upgraded to the paid version almost at once.
Put it on my site at http://www.lapaloma.info/recipes-3/ and have had nothing but trouble since.
Two outstanding support requests, one four days old.
It has crashed my server and the freelance consultant I am paying to populate the site with content is very unhappy as it won’t let her do her job.
Suggest you hold off installing this until someone at the other end responds.
With this plugin activated, no posts show up - all I get is a blank page. As soon as I deactivate the plugin, the posts show up again.
I have the paid version and it's no longer working correctly. The photo never shows up and there's all kinds of weird things that happen. Sometimes the entire recipe will disappear if I go in to edit my post, other times it'll remove the title, author, recipe type and cuisine from the top and I have to enter it AGAIN and again. I am VERY frustrated with this plugin, especially since I paid for it.
Good choice of recipe styles--or create your own. Would be nice if you could turn off guest posting.
