Buggy, unsupported, poorly implemented solution
By , for WP 3.8.1

This buggy plugin is flawed in concept and appears to be developmentally moribund. Avoid!

Custom Author Byline can't handle multiple authors/co-authors, and (depending on the theme) it will link custom authors to the page for the user who "owns" the post, which is usually assumed to be the "author." This means you still need to create user accounts with their own info for each person who has a byline on the site -- often a tedious and unnecessary chore. Also, the custom link you can assign to a custom author name seems to be applied as a redirect on top of/after any link to the actual author/owner page. So if Bob is the user who owns the post and Jim is the custom author byline, clicking Jim in the byline will go to Bob's archive/author page in themes where this is the default behavior -- and then you will be redirected a second later to any custom URL you added for Jim.

I would strongly recommend using the Byline plugin instead of this one. Byline uses a custom taxonomy (like a tag) to allow any number of authors to be added to a post byline and given their own archive/description page automatically. Byline is newer, seems better built and supported.
