Civic Cookie Control: Sorry, this api key is not valid. Please contact Civic at firstname.lastname@example.org.We apologise for the inconvenience.
After hours messing with API keys that aren't recognised and domains that are clearly stated the plugin just doesn't work properly. Save yourself a pile of trouble and try something that actually works.
It conflicts with a number of plugins, which when disabled cookie control works ok, so if you need any of the plugins, and of course you do or you wouldn't have them, then cookie control is a junker.
I've given up really, it works, sort out the conflicts/use alternative plugins so it works, there is an update and back to square one.
I would have paid for the multi, but that's a no brainer if it keeps stopping working isn't it?
I've tried this on my site in 'Explicit Consent' mode. Without the user giving his explicit consent, my website is still allowed to go ahead and create cookies anyway! Is this one major piece of functionality that has been overlooked?
After installing and having to register etc it says it is working but when I test it on my site I get a message (as do my visitors) to say:
"Sorry this API is not valid...."
Hmmm. Well I copy pasted it from the email and double checked it was correct, no spaces at the end etc. Tried again. Still does not work.
Don't waste your time with this one
Doesn't provide the features described unless you hand over money and your personal details. Borderline scam, though thankfully the GPL means that anyone with the requisite JS skills can edit the plugin to make it work.
Free version allow only two countries: UK,NL.
It's a deception.
Works perfectly fine for my sites
The above error happens in Chrome and Safari (not other browsers in my case) when....
the "Gravatar Hovercards" option is activated in Jetpack !!
THere might be several other plugin's using this "hovering" like Cookie Control and Gravatar Hovercards that might be in conflict, that I have no knowledge about.
But I really want Hover Cards on my comments, so would you please, sherred, look into this?
What I like about this plugin is that it lives as a small triangle outside the sidebars of your site. So, once cookies have been accepted or declined, it does not impact on the user's experience.
