Allows admins to create user groups and set access restrictions for any post, page or section.
I'm trying the plugin in a WP site and it does work fine managing access to pages but not for files. This is the case:
1) As admin,Upload a PDF file, then WP saves it on the wp-uploads directory. The route is something like that: http://192.168.43.26/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/PDF-4.pdf
2) Accessing to the file in the Media section on the WP Editor, you can "restrict access" and set the groups who can access the file.
3) Logged as an user out of the groups allowed to access the file, you can access directly to it by copy and paste the URL in the browser. So the file is not protected.
¿Is there a solution to this issue?
Gives me greater control over who sees what on the front end of the site. Easy to use, and used daily. Thanks!
We use this plugin to secure a membership directory, and it functions just as we hoped.
Initial tests indicate this is a great plugin. The functionality provided was exactly what I needed. However on first use, when there was no user logged in, when that anonymous user tries to click through to a secure page they get a 500 Internal Server Error. The page displays with the message "There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed."
The page displays correctly if a user is logged in.
The issue occurred with WordPress 3.5.1 and plugin version 1.5.8. Resolution was found by setting up custom pages for access denied on Authenticated and Anonymous users in the plugin settings.
The setting is accessible from Settings -> Page Security. On the page that is loaded click the top check-box labeled (to the right) as "Use pages for default access denied screens". Then leave the Protection Type radio button at the default value of Redirect.
Great plug-in! So glad I found it instead of using a bunch of code just to secure a page on wordpress site. Thanks!
This plugin is delivering just the functionality I was looking for. This saved me a lot of work. My thanks and appreciation goes out towards the developer for giving this one to the community!
