Just another contact form plugin. Simple but flexible.
I love this plugin and hope we can work this out.
I've been using Contact Form 3.8.1. However, I updated WordPress to 3.9.1 last week and suddenly the Contact Form did not show up on my site. In addition, it seemed to break the </div> tags and caused the remainder of the page to render incorrectly. I replaced 3.8.1 with 3.8 and everything worked again.
I recently developed a small WP site for a local non-profit, and decided to give CF7 a spin, as they didn't need anything elaborate to receive email from the public. I wanted to add a CAPTCHA or reCAPTCHA feature for added security to the form (it does not come standard with this plugin; you have to add it by extension with an additional plugin).
The CF7 CAPTCHA extension written by this plugin's author (Real Simple CAPTCHA) required some manual configuration of both the PHP engine (ensuring a GD image library loaded with PHP was activated), and checking or modifying some code in the CF7 plugin folder. Despite the promise of adding a CAPTCHA to CF7 as being 'real simple', that approach seemed too complicated for me.
Others have developed reCAPTCHA extensions of CF7 that generate a short code for pasting into a CF7 form. The reCAPTCHA plugin I used also required obtaining a public and private key from Google in order to activate the reCAPTCHA image (not difficult to obtain). Unfortunately, after activating the reCAPTCHA plugin, and pasting the shortcode into CF7, the reCAPTCHA image didn't show up on my contact page in development. The image DID appear when the site went into production. Then the reCAPTCHA extension hung up CF7 on the live site. Too much bother to troubleshoot.
So I turned off the reCAPTCHA extensions, and ran CF7 alone. I sent a test email from the live site to my Gmail account, but never received the email. I think the problem may be that my host (Dream Host) does not allow PHP to send email without a return-path email address set to the host's domain url (for example, setting return-path to: 'firstname.lastname@example.org'). The ability to set a return-path email is not available at the backend of the CF7 plugin. Nuts!
So I went back to using the Fast Secure Contact Form plugin, which I've used before. It takes a little longer to configure, but it's well documented and worked right the first time. Too bad for CF7. I really wanted to use it, but it just didn't deliver for me.
Date picker not working at Firefox and IE
I tried everything, nothing to do, downloading files does not work.
What a pity.
For some reason, it does give a message as the email has been sent successfully but it never arrives to your inbox, junk... no where! I´m using it on this blog:
I have been checking around and it seems to be a problem for many people. And the worst is that the developer does not provide with an specific solution.
Don´t understand how WordPress has listed this plugin. They should ask to the developer for a solution or remueve the plugin.
I´m not only disappointed with the developer, but as well with WordPress.
Not adapted for dark background with light color font.
My email input field turns white until the email address isn't correct. (maybe an "email checker" ?)
Result : We don't see what we write in the email input field.
No reply in the support section = plugin deleted / change with another contact plugin who works perfectly.
Worst contact form I've used. Sending test messages through it took hours to receive (sometimes four or five hours!). Also nearly lost important message because it didn't include the senders email address by default which is just madness! Not spending anymore time with this as feel really weary I will lose messages through it.
Downloaded this plugin as I had used it previously on another site last year (site no longer running). It got rave reviews across a number of sites so I installed it.
Created my first contact form and saved, refreshed to see the changes and -- my entire site is messed up! Zero formatting, just plain html. Tried to clear cache, every little trick, read a bunch of forums before ended up removing plugin. Even without it the site remained strange so ended up reinstalling my theme (luckily a child-theme!). Won't be doing that again, ever.
Way too many people opening tickets with us because the form fails to work, unexplained validation errors. It all happened at a critical time. Felt completely helpless. Will never use Contact Form 7 again. Avoid.
Does not work with version 3.6 of WP
