Allows you to combine and minify your CSS and JS files to improve page load time.
We've been using this plugin for a while now on client sites and absolutely love it. It does a great job of combining and minifying files while not breaking our sites.
With the newest update it also gives you the granularity to adjust how files are minified if you do run into any issues.
Last, plugins like this have a tendency to be overly complicated, but this plugin is simple and easy to understand.
Very well done.
It works perfectly, isn't agressive like others I've tried.
I switched to this plugin after having issues with JS minification in W3 Total Cache. Right now I'm just using it for JS because it doesn't have an option to minify CSS and insert it directly at the end of the HTML page.
It works great for JS. It's robust and light but gives you advanced options like the ability to reorder the JS files before combination, and choose individually what you want to do with en-queued files. My JS files are sensitive to the order they get minified in, so I was having issues with other plugins until I found this one and experimented with the sequence until I got them to work.
You can put minified JS files in the header, footer, leave in the current position, and not minify each one. The old version installed required finding the script handle for each file to do this, but the new one populates them automatically--a big time saver.
The only thing I wish this plugin had was the ability to add
async when it inserts the script. Right now I'm hacking
class-bwp-minify.php to do that in between updates. The authors are so responsive, I'm sure they'll add that soon. Thanks!
We have been using BWP Minify since our initial campus wide rollout of WordPress system about three years ago and found it to be very helpful in speeding up websites. With our latest upgrade to WordPress 3.9.1, we discovered an issue and sent it to the developer. Khang responded immediately and worked on the issue diligently. He will be releasing a new version, 1.3.1 in the next few days.
Again, excellent plugin (with many critically needed features for our campus-wide WordPress system) from a very responsive developer.
I tried this plugin, and it works like I hope. Very easy to use, and I note now that my website's load has improved a little. Thanks to the author.
After my dealings with the conflicts between W3TC and Jetpack I was anticipating some difficulty getting this plugin to work. I went though all the documentation and cataloged all my 27 .css files and 38 .js files; expecting I'd have to do alot of work to configure BWP Minify (define files to ignore, etc.)
However, I activated without only one issue - just had to add 'tubepress.js' to ignore list on "Manage enqueued Files" tab of BWP Minify settings, which I discovered by error identified in Chrome's Developer Tools Console.
Caching plugins are a headache! I had some real problems with W3TC, so decided to ditch it. But I still wanted to minify and combine js and css.
This plugin handles that task better than W3TC in my opinion. It also offers CDN support :)
Great little plugin, thanks! Just shouted you a couple coffees :) Roll on 1.3!
I'm using this plugin for years - this one always works for me out of box. Right now I'm eagerly awaiting for version 1.3 which will make this plugin even better.
If you're running slow, Better WP Minify is the way to go!
We're hosted on WP Engine, & Better WP Minify miraculously increased speed on a non-optimized site. Easy to use, too.
Keep in mind our wp installation for online courses has too many plugins (for course stuff, learner forums, etc.) and too many unoptimized photos. Despite that, Better WP Minify still significantly increased site speed - on WP Engine.
Even better than this highly recommendedplugin is the developer's free support. Khang Dam Minh emailed me back from my forum thread and then tested version 1.3.0 on our staging site to confirm Better WP Minify WORKS on all of our online course-related plugins!!!
Thank you for this great plugin and even greater support.
