Add albums, photo, audio/video encoding, privacy, sharing, front-end uploads & more. All this works mobile/tablets devices.
This plugin is the best for allowing users to upload pictures and media, given that the other option (bp-media or bp-album or something like that) ceased updates long long ago.
I give major applause to the team who develops this plugin, as they are constantly working on updates for it, and have found ways to monetize premium addon features, so hopefully they will continue to update and improve this important piece of the buddypress puzzle.
The main problem with this plugin is that it completely fails with many themes. Currently the amount of themes that are well suited to use with buddypress is very small, and most of the recent buddypress compatible themes are bootstrap based or similar. Rtmedia will not display images on gallery pages with most of these modern themes.
This may change one day, but currently I am assuming that the rtmedia plugin uses some of the same naming conventions and or files that bootsrap based themes also use - and conflicts arise.
There are a few theme options that work with rtmedia, however those are very limited.
Sadly the choice as of today for buddypress users is to have a small theme selection and no good way for users to upload photos, or use rtmedia as the best option for uploading media, but only have a few theme options that will work with buddypress and rtmedia.
This is an issue for buddypress in general, and not particularly rtmedia's fault that buddypress after years of being released still lacks the basic functionality that other social media scripts have offered for years right out of the box without all the problems.
I wanted to use this plugin but after looking at the $149 base price PLUS much more on the Add-Ons, it looks like a solution for people that can spends few hundreds at least.
Even some big software are not that expensive.
Appears to be good plugin but too pricey.
Does what it pretends to do. Could give the option to manipulate the menu. My users have problems with going to "my page" and then doing all from there...
While I respect, even if not embrace, RTmedia's decision to commercialize on BuddyPress media and re-name it, I've had mixed feelings towards the plugin ever since.
The basic free features give you about enough to get started,
but if you actually want to set your site apart from most others,
there's going to be a $149 pricetag behind it,
an EXUBERANT amount of money!
While I agree with why most of the PRO features aren't available
to free users, there are two features, whose lack of presence in the free version of this plugin is an outrage and a disservice to free users: Moderation controls, (which any responsible media plugin
should have in both free and paid versions,)and Album Privacy.
You have a ton of great features, RTmedia-PRO, and have
already promised that more, better features are on the way!
Why, then, can't basic free users at least have access
to these more basic features at some point?
This plugin helps me a lot. i ve gone through so many plugins but this helped me a lot. Thank you sooo much..
Hurray :-), we're able to upload files with Latin Extended-A chars (czech) with ver. 3.2.12!
But one little problem still occurs: Name of the album, e.g. "Můj albumíček", is not stored properly, latin ext. chars goes "M?j album??ek".
Thanks for a great plugin!
This is without doubt a great plugin that is actively updated and feature rich.
I had previously purchased the BP Gallery plugin which was full of bugs and issues and not a patch on this plugin.
After using the free version I thought it would be a good idea to upgrade and I followed this link http://rtcamp.com/news/rtmedia-pro-v1-1/http://rtcamp.com/news/rtmedia-pro-v1-1/http:// where the plugin was advertised at $59. At first I thought this was very expensive just to activate a few extra features, ok 17 in all but when I pressed the link I almost dropped to the floor when I saw that the price for the upgrade was no $99 rising shortly to $149.
I understand that the authors time and investment should be compensated but really £99 bucks?
I can go to Amazon and purchase Microsoft Windows 8 Pro for just under $88 dollars which is a massive programme that has cost hundreds of thousands of $ to produce.
How can you justify such a high price for this product. I was about to buy at $59 but sorry there is no way I can afford such a high price for such a small piece of software no matter how good it may be which is a real shame. I think you are going to loose many potential customers using the pricing scale including me.

A quick but brief history of myself, a couple years ago I was so blessed with my second son being born, at age 51 I was ever so proud. Not even 2 weeks afterward he needed emergency heart surgery to rebuild his heart because he was born with CHD. You can follow his story at http://josephstory.org and 6 weeks later on our way back I became ill. Now I am fighting Kidney Disease stage 2 and numerous other things to battle and at least I am on long term disability making about 1000 a month to survive with a family of 4. My battle to stay alive is a long one and each small battle I win is in the right direction to fight this war. Nevertheless, the last surgery I had is a lifelong change and a new lifestyle. I created an online support group because there is none here--there are facebook pages and while they are neat, their really not so functional. Anyway, with the Help of this Plugin RTMedia, I was able to create a support group site that should make our group proud but most of all enjoyable to use and share information. Thank you for an awesome plugin. I only wish I could spare enough for the Pro Version for there are some neat things but alas, that part of my battle financially is not such a winning success. Great Plugin!
the best plugin for add media to buddypress ever! with their superb support! thank you so much guys. keep on your good job.
