This plugin will check your posts, comments and other content for broken links and missing images, and notify you if any are found.
Savvy web developers know that mitigating broken links is critical and I find this plug-in to be very useful for that purpose. Given that my WP site has posts that are several years old, this tool lets me know quickly whenever a link becomes broken and gives me the option to choose how to proceed.
One of those time where you think you have to go page by page checking errors..when I realized I might have to spend hours checking for broken links I looked for a plug in. I found this one and it was just so user friendly I almost wanna have more broken links more often so I have an excuse to use it....ok, maybe I'm exaggerating. But in other words, I LOVE this plug in! :)
the plugin uses some resources, but works great!
I installed this plugin just now and it knackered my site at http://www.eurocall-languages.org - the site just hangs completely, and I can't view it as an end-user or log in to disable the plugin. I'll have to FTP to the host and manually delete the plugin from the WP installation.
It may be that this plugin is reacting badly to one of the many plugins I have installed, or that it's running a link check on installation which hangs the site, but either way installation has led to the site being down for the best part of an hour, at inconvenience to our members and costing me time as the admin. It's back to Xenu for me.
Using this on a site with 5000+ links within the posts and it's excellent. Had to juggle scheduling, max. execution time and server load a little (you do need a decent server) but it scans once a week with no probs. No more Xenu for that site!
The plugin makes all my admin pages go blank as soon as it is activated, and the only solution I've found so far is to manually delete it (using FTP). Also, there is apparently no support in the forum.
I have the feeling that the plugin (probably) places too much stress on the server, at least in my particular case.
I want to be fair and correct my previous comment:
After my bad previous experience I decided to give it another try, and installed the last version (1.9.2). This version works correctly in my site - or, at least, does not give me the problems that a previous one did, and that I mentioned in my other message.
I used Xenu's for this work. Now I can edit the link directly and I received a email automatically. Good Work!
I've used this plugin on several of my sites and it works great.
One of the most useful plugins around!
I have used this plugin for years and it has always worked great. However in the last few weeks this plugin finds hundreds of supposedly broken links which are working just fine. The message is always the same 503 error. Anyone know what is causing that? I hope it's just a temporary glitch that will be fixed soon.
the plugin doesn't work with multisite and the author doesn't seem to want to fix this.
