The easiest, most effective way to secure WordPress in seconds.
With the new ownership and daily updates to the plugin, today I finally had to find a replacement plugin. I was getting disc-overage warning from my host......one site has over 20gigs allocated to iThemes folder.
I love this plugin for all of the little tactics it employs to make my site safer. It takes all the stress out of keeping the evildoers out of my WP installation...
I hate this little devilish plugin. It's a horrid piece of trash. It will mess up your site. No matter what you do, it will, I bet you. It will make a nuclear bomb fall on your site (metaphorically speaking).
A friend decided to install this plugin on our site. I had already told him about the horrors of Better WP Security. He didn't notice that this plugin had been renamed, so he decided to install it. What followed was a lot of screaming and tugging of the hair. I am now bald.
If you want to fix this horrid piece of /@$&#%* then I recommend this url, a pure piece of gold: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/how-to-reset-ithemes-security-plugin-to-fix-issues?replies=74
It was shaky before, although it worked. However, soon after the update it broke my site with an error. I had to rename the folder via ftp to have the plugin disabled, and now I'm considering to remove it from all of my sites.
Constant updates when WP security moved over to these ithemes people, and now all I get is error, after white screen, after error, after white screen, after error.... and I'm sick of it
Can anyone please recommend me a decent security plug-in that works?
Plugin indispensable para tener tu WP seguro.
Muchas gracias, si pudiera te hacia un donativo :)
Best plugin ever!!!
As many others have mentioned, this plugin will completely break your site. I'm not sure what they did but the site stopped recognizing all my posts, reviews, pages, users, etc and everything was basically blanked out. After a lot of searching around, I finally figured this might be the culprit and uninstalled. It then blanked out my admin area while failing to completely uninstall itself so I had to SSH into my box and delete it from the plugins directory manually. After this I found that it had thrown 3 settings into my wp-config.php file without my asking while it uninstalled itself (THANKS A LOT). For those of you having issues look for this at the top of your wp-config.php file:
define( 'FORCE_SSL_LOGIN', true );
define( 'FORCE_SSL_ADMIN', true );
define( 'DISALLOW_FILE_EDIT', true );
Delete or comment them out and then load up your wp-admin with a regular HTTP link. This plugin should be taken down until it stops breaking everyone's WordPress sites. This is completely ridiculous.
Side note, I saw errors like this in my Apache error log for the site:
[error] [client x.x.x.x] WordPress database error MySQL server has gone away for query
After I updated my WordPress sites using the Plugins > Auto Updates, I immediately noticed an incompatibility dialog for iThemes Security plugin. Since I never installed such a plugin my first thought was to go disable the plugin. Disabling the plugin has broken the backend to my WordPress sites and I no longer can get logged in.
