This morning, I deleted 100 spam messages waiting to be moderated that had accumulated over night. My blog had been getting hit with spam every few minutes until I installed the "Anti-spam" plugin. After installing this plugin, no spam has been encountered thus far and it's been a full hour since installing it. I was able to post two test comments, from different computers using different ISPs, and the test comments came through just fine.
Zero configuration needed
Zero management needed (so far)
Completely effective (so far)
This plugin is great and I would recommend at least giving it a try.
It would be nice to add an optional reporting feature to get an idea of how much spam is being "fought" by this plugin. However, if you _want_ an anti-spam solution you won't have to deal with or manage, this just might be the plugin for you!
This was a "God Send!" My Blog The Whirling Wind has only been up since September 2012. I was getting numerous subscribers from all around the world via e-mail. The names looked suspicious to say the least. I finally figured out why. I began to get flooded with trackback pings. I'd go through and mark them as spam the moment I saw them. It was becoming a ritual to be performed several times a day.
Since installing this plug-in, NOTHING! It just works. I was so pleased I sent the author a donation.
I'm excited to try this plugin after the great reviews, but I'm having trouble getting it to work. When I add a comment when not logged in, I get this error:
Error: answer is wrong. [Current month ye@r day*] Error: field should be empty. [Leave this field empty*]
Can you suggest what might be causing this error? I have disabled Anti-Spam for now so users can still leave comments.

I haven't had a single spam comment since the moment I installed this plugin (a couple of weeks ago), and I was getting 30+ junk comments a day. I've had no issues with genuine comments (all have come through as expected, and I've tested it successfully myself in Chrome, Opera, Safari and Firefox), and I'm VERY happy with this plugin.
I was getting sick of wading through all the junk, just in case there was a legitimate comment buried somewhere in there, and I did not want to use a captcha, because I agree that spam is not the users problem either.
And now it is no-one's problem! Thank you, thank you, thank you :)
This plugin has been a godsend. It is a great piece of code, it has never given me any problems.
I installed it and tried commenting and received this error:
Go back and try again.
Error: empty answer.
i thought it was great, since spam died off the second i installed it. unfortunately, so did all other comments, and i soon learned from readers that none of them were able to leave comments. they all received an error that the date field needed to be blank, and to try again. since the date field was apparently filling itself in, it viewed everyone as a spammer.
I was getting dozens of annoying spam comments daily until recently when I installed Anti-spam plugin. It was easy to install and so far appears to work well - it rejects spam comments but lets real human comments through. I hope it stays this way. My main concern was false rejections i.e. not allowing valid posts. So far, this does not seem to be happening. It would be interesting to know how many fake comments were rejected. (It is possible this info is available somewhere but during my quick look I did not see it.)
Overall, Anti-spam plugin is a great time-saver!
