Used on Multisite
A really good idea to prevent dictionary attacks from succeeding. So many of us, when we start out, have never heard of dictionary attacks, and using the same login name as a display name is just asking for trouble.
I used this on a multisite installation without problems, except that I had to reinstate multisite admin status to myself - fortunately I keep an alternate superadmin identity in a locked drawer!
