I cannot access my wp-admin control panel on my blog!! I have NO idea why??? It's been "shut down" or something???? - After I click on Control Panel, there appears a solid blank white frozen screen. IT's been this way for over 2 days!! http://www.lgpromarketing.com. Please help me figure this out. Any insights would be SOOO helpful at this point. I don't know where to turn. Thank you very much. Laurie Gondreau

Try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin and renaming your current theme's folder in wp-content/themes via FTP.

Hi esmi, thanks for your advice.

In the Go Daddy FTP, I located and selected my wp-content folder. The box at the top of the file director contains a single forward slash "/" so I am assuming I can rename this yellow wp-content folder but I do not want to proceed without knowing exactly what I should rename it.

So, I know this must sound very simple-minded, but after reading the general instructions on resetting the plugins folder, (non-specific to Go Daddy hosting) what do I rename it to?

wp-content/themes? or something else? Then do I click the >> or the << to send it back to the local directory on my computer?
The resetting plugins folder does not exist. I appreciate your guidance as I learn how to do this.

I read the warning regarding how easy it is to screw this up, there is no undelete or undo.

Thank you again for your advice.

    Laurie

    Here is what I've discovered,

    1. If I dbl click on the yellow wp-content folder "unable to access specific directory".

    2. If I right click on it, my options are,"make directory, rename, refresh, delete, download"

    3. I can select the folder and possibly rename it in the box at the top with the single forward slash in it, then Enter.

Is that correct? Please guide me to the right way to go about accessing and renaming the wp-content folder

Thank you very much, I appreciate your patience.

You don't rename wp-content. If you do, WordPress breaks worse than it is broken now. You rename the plugins folder which is inside wp-content. Name it "oldplugins", then see if you're dashboard is back. Rename any themes other than "default", too, to disable it.

thanks, songdogtech. Here's the thing, I am not able to open it. That is not an option. My options are, "make directory, rename, refresh, delete, download". Are you familiar with Go Daddy Files and your advice specific to it? Or, maybe all File Manager's are universal and therefore the same?

If I had an option to open it up and look inside and locate the plugins, I would. That's why I am curious to inquire if you are referring to Go Daddy File Managers like the one that I am viewing.

Maybe I'm in the wrong area of my host admin area. I'm pretty sure I am in the right spot.

I appreciate your good will and good advice. I look foward to your reply.

I've used GoDaddy's file manager; it's pretty terrible. But you don't double click on anything in it. You single click on a folder in the left hand pane and the folder heirarchy expands. Then use just the checkbox in the right hand pane to select plugins.
