• So let me explain how i embed youtube videos first: I only take the code from the youtube page, put it to html, than switch back to visual and continue editing. This worked well for almost a year since I have the blog, no problems, no plug-ins required.
But suddenly, my videoes don’t show up. If I try to edit them, I see the code, same as before, and the yellow flash box in visual, but when it’s published, nothing. It’s true, if I don’t switch to visual before posting it does show up, and I’ll try to keep that in mind in the future, but what will I do with all the rest of my videos?
You got to understand: more 1/3 of my 300 posts content is embed related, so if I don’t solve this problem, I’ll lose a lot of traffic and all the other related stuff.
Also, can this have anything to do with upgrading to 2.7.1? I kind of ruled that out, since someone reported the problem to me prior to upgrading.
Anyway, since a link to a post of mine with a youtube video embedded

I see the embedded YouTube video on that URL just fine.

Well, I can’t see it, and neither do my friends whom I checked with, so what can it be?
P.S.I cleared the cache, cookies and all that, I even tried Reinstalling Adobe Flash Player, none of it worked. I have another blog running on 2.6 and I can see it’s videos just fine.
    Sorry for the double post.

I can’t help you there, but there’s nothing wrong on that page. The video shows up. See here:

Something is wrong with your browser or your friends browser or something else. There’s nothing wrong with your site.

I tried switching to IE7 and the problem was still there. I don’t know, maybe there’s a regional problem with 2.7.1, though i seriously doubt it.

I see a small video, but there’s a large space on the left with tabs which is about the size a video could be. Is that where it’s located? If not, then I can see a small video. I have a Mac running Flock.

I see the video just fine using Safari on a Mac.

Anybody here with Windows? Maybe there lays the problem.

I am using Windows. I posted that picture above showing you that it works fine. The problem is on your own computer. Really.

Aside from the fact that this is NOT a WP “problem” (a “regional” bug? please) … it has been said over and over ad nauseum AND as a stciky … DO NOT jump back and forth between the html and visual editors! Tha fact that people refuse to listen on this point does not constitute a problem with WP – it’s a problem with the user.

While in this case it may be entirely my problem, you can’t actually believe that such errors occurring from switching to html and back is NOT a wordpress problem. It IS a problem, and I hope it will be fixed in the next upgrades. The majority of wordpress users don’t end up on this forum until after they have a problem. So how are they supposed to know this vital information? Especially in cases when things work fine for a couple hundred posts and then the error occurs?
Anyways, what you are saying is this: “well we have this thing that works absolutely fine. BUT WAIT, don’t push the red button! even though is there and it is one of the features, don’t push it! and even though it worked fine before, don’t push it from now on!”
Wordpress is a magnificent thing, a tool that represents way more than a blogging software, but it has it’s faults. Otherwise we would be all working in wordpress 1.0, even now. I just hope that this switching problem gets addressed.
As for my problem, I still didn’t found a solution. I even reinstalled Firefox, and nothing. Oh well, I’ll live with it until it will bug me so much that I’ll se no other way than quitting.

I not only believe that, I am going to tell it to you flat out. The Visual editor and the HTML editor are simply not compatible and never can be. Why? Because the whole point of the visual editor is to generate extra HTML for the user, and the whole point of the HTML editor is to NOT generate extra HTML. They have completely contrary purposes.

If you want to write your own HTML, then don’t use the Visual editor. The very purpose of the Visual editor is to write HTML for you, and that sometimes means that it will mess up whatever HTML you have put in manually. There is no “fix” for that, because that is the whole idea behind it. That is its very function. That is what it is supposed to do.

Anyways, what you are saying is this: “well we have this thing that works absolutely fine. BUT WAIT, don’t push the red button! even though is there and it is one of the features, don’t push it! and even though it worked fine before, don’t push it from now on!”

No – that is NOT what I’m telling you. I’m telling you that you should NOT jump back and forth between the 2 editors, and the Codex is VERY SPECIFIC about that. As usual, Otto explains exactly why this is so better than I could.

However – if you choose not to believe this and complain about a “bug” that is NOT a “bug” … feel free to carry on. How’s that working out for you? Feel free to exercise you right to use another software if you wish.

And by the way, I can see that view you claim is not there just fine. Windows XP-Pro, Firefox2.

From the codex, about version 2.1., when the tabbed editor first appeared:
“Our new tabbed editor allows you to switch between WYSIWYG and code editing instantly while writing a post.”
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Version_2.1
How is not this exactly like the case with the red button?
I also wish to answer your question, even though it is rhetorical. It was working great for me, until I encountered the problem, which seems to be my problem only, anyway. So it’s working out great.
Also, don’t “please” me. When I was saying a the regional problem with 2.7.1., I was clearly referring Youtube and other third party likes, which may occasionally restrict a video from a country. “though i seriously doubt it”, it was possible that 2.7.1. to not display this kind of videos when embedded.
I didn’t came here to pick a fight, I came here to solve my problem. As I clearly can’t do that, I’ll go ask for help elsewhere.
    Thanks all the same.

I actually have this same problem. Some of my videos don’t display when I use firefox on my laptop, but display fine when I use firefox on my PC even though they are the same version of FF. If I use IE or Chrome on my laptop the videos are there. Also using version 2.7.1

    This is a good example –> http://www.shazbot.com.au/?cat=27

The top video shows, but the 2nd and 3rd don’t.

If you have found an answer since your last post? please reply and let me know.

I’ve just downgraded to FF2, no other solution, unfortunately.
