I am trying to setup a new wordpress site that will have a wp e-commerce shop running on it. I want to point the front page to the shop page and posts to a posts page but any changes I make to the ->settings ->reading section don't get saved with the error You don't have permission to access /wp/wp-admin/options.php on this server. I have changed the folder and file permissions to 775 and this has made no difference, even setting 777 makes no difference. I am a bit stuck now, any ideas? I have no active plugins, just a page called test that i want to have as my "home" page and a page called posts that will be my blog page.
select that file through ftp and set the permission 404

wouldn't that be read only for owner and world?
if you give write permission then your file would be attacked by virus.

Well I have tried but that didn't make any difference.
I can make other changes fine, for example I can change the writing section and also general settings are ok. Is there an entry in the sql database I can change directly or aren't these settiongs saved in there?
deactivate all plugins and then check once.
