Yoast analytics plug is non-starter (1 post)

The Yoast analytics plug in seemed like a good idea, but after two hours of futzing with it, I give up.

The instructions are pretty thin. Is it supposed to install the google script in the footer (or header, those are the only choices)? If so, those sorts of things should be commented in the instructions in areas that overlap or conflict with the vendor. Not everyone out here is a web design guru.
At least two people have posted about the confusing gapp file referred to in the instructions. I dont have one. I dont see one. I updated the config page with the id number, gave it a decent interval, see no changes to either my header or footer files (if that is what the program is supposed to do). Google does not see me. By the way, if that is all it does, why do we need the plug in? I assumed it had more to offer.

Again, no clarity. I am outta here.
