Yet another resizing problem

    I’m running WP 3.2.1 and the Twenty Eleven 1.2 theme.

    In Media Settings my Large image max size is set at 630 x 473 px, yet when I post images clearly smaller than those dimensions they sometimes get down sized, at times by as little as 1 px each way, which causes a noticeable loss of clarity. And the resizing is not consistent. It happens to some images and not others and I can’t see any pattern. Here are dimensions of some landscape images I’ve posted, with downnsizes noted as img size –> display size

    600 x 396 –> 549 x 363
    548 x 364 –> 547 x 363
    548 x 365 OK
    548 x 365 –> 547 x 364 (WTF???)
    500 x 332 OK

    Any insight gratefully received.

    I’m finding that 500 px wide is a ‘safe’ width that will not get resized, and I have replaced previous blurry downsized imgs with 500px versions. However there is a 548 x 365 img (Bob wearing cap) that did NOT get resized. ??
