   I would like to display a yearly archive by a single category. How can I do that?

   Please take a look at my blog.
   http://www.gtpj.com/blog/category/sermon-notes/

   Look at the bottom of the left sidebar. You will see a category named "Sermon Notes". This yearly list is generated from a plugin http://www.prdream.com/wordpress/?page_id=1511

   But the problem is the blog is using permalinks, and the plugin is not. So, any idea how can I change the plugin to enable it to create links which are permalinks friendly?

   Also, what would a permalink with category + year looks like?
   /category/sermon-notes/2006/
   /2006/category/sermon-notes/
   do not work. :)

   Thank you, the plugin displays a whole list of posts (can limit to one category) grouped by years. But the list is too long and there is no pagination.

   I still prefer the way http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-category-archive/ handles the yearly archive, the only problem we need to make it work in permalink which my blog uses.

   Any other suggestion?
