I have just recently downloaded and installed wordpress 2.0.1 for xoops 2.2.3
I was therefore wondering if anyone had a fix on how to get wordpress to get the avatar of the logged user, and post it with all the posts and comments?

IF I remember right, that module is a port of an older version of WP, and isn't supported here. Your best best (and fastest too) is to contact the module dev and see if they can help.
