[resolved] XML Import error, xml.import shows up in media library (2 posts)

    I'm trying to import the theme test data into my wordpress install and it keeps giving me the error

    Invalid file
    Please upload a valid WXR (WordPress eXtended RSS) export file.

    The weird thing is it shows up in my media library as

    test-data2008-12-22xml.import
    IMPORT

    I've also exported (worked fine) then attempted to import that fresh file and I get the same error.

    I'm using 2.7.1 with no plugins and the default theme hosted at mosso.

    If anyone knows why this is happening, or if you have seen this before please let me know!

    Turns out it was a problem with folder permissions or database permissions. This was due to a transfer from a old server to the new one. Not sure on the technical details tho, I deleted the db and reinstalled on a new one, the import works now.
